The research thesis is based on the spirit of craftsman itself.From the perspective of history,it reviews the process of evolution of traditional inheritance of creation,applying interdisciplinary theories of pedagogy,psychology,and history,attempts to logically construct four dimensional researching system based on history and modern times and theoretical deconstruction and application,and explores the inheritance and winding development of Chinese ancient master to apprentice education,modern arts and craft education and design education after the reform and opening in China with research methods of document research,field research,case research,comprehensive comparison and qualitative analysis.It analyzes the historical evolution of art education in European missionary schools in Middle Ages,apprenticeship education,Workshop education after Renaissance,arts and crafts movement,Bauhaus design education,and modern design education in western countries after the second World War,summarizes the development process of the spirit of craftsman in domestic and overseas design education,deconstructs modern characteristics of craftsman's spirit,reviews successful examples that have prospered design education,discusses features and historical reform in domestic and overseas education,so as to form core principles and methods exploring the spirit of the craftsman in design education.The article proposes that faith,the core of craftsman's spirit,whose content lies in three values of perfection,responsibility and faith,which is the identity of professional ethics of respecting labor,adoring nature,valuing inheritance and pursuing creation and its connotation concentrates on three values of perfection,responsibility and faith.Perfection,the criterion and target of design,refers to professional dedication to be perfect and bold to create.Responsibility is a spirit that maintains to be concentrated on profession and duty.When it comes to faith,it is the faith in profession that embraces the belief in design,believing value,obeying to ethics and building reputation with morality.Design education make sense with the three beliefs.Where there is a craftsman in the country,there is the spirit of the craftsman.Through the research of the acknowledge of value of craftsman's spirit in design education and fostering strategies,the article proposes four paths.One is technology namely technique guide and practice.One is art,which refers to aesthetics and creative thinking.One is morality guide by ethics and moral principles.The last is construction which is the building of systems and mechanism and talent cultivation.Established in the four paths,with the case of educational reform of China Academy of Art Shanghai Institute of Design,the article scientifically tests the methods and problems of the spirit of craftsman in design education in China,gives arguments of application values and feasibility of craftsman's spirit in design education,and proposes to construct the implementation of the cultivation of craftsman's spirit based on technology,art and morality on the basis of which it clarifies the frame and examines problems,launching curriculum of craftsman's spirit in design education and highlighting technique gist in multiple perspectives,thus forming elements suitable for the cultivation of it and realizing the cultivation of key competencies for designers and final target to foster leading designers abreast of the global new tide of design.
