The main task of this research is to better understand the nature and trend of ancient Chinese philosophy by centralized,comprehensive and thorough historical observation as well as philosophical analysis of Ti and Yong.Based on the generality of Ti-Yong logical analysis,the structure of this thesis is arranged according to the principle of "????,????".The whole thesis consists of two parts.The first half belongs to Yong while the second half belongs to Ti.Owing to this structural arrangement,many results of Ti-Yong theory are fully reflected.Firstly,the research shows that the Chinese Ti-Yong thoughts,thriving in pre-Qin days,have originated in China and are closely and profoundly correlated with the development of rites and music in early ancient times.The earliest and the most complete presentation of Ti-Yong thoughts can be seen in Wang Fu ' s“??? "(Eastern Han Dynasty)“??,???,??,???”.The period of Wei,Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties was an important stage of standardizing the concept of Ti-Yong,during which the thoughts of Wang Bi and Seng Zhao had a great influence on the development of that in Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism respectively;but Ti-Yong thoughts were completely presented and illustrated in the reign of Emperor Wu of Liang,when that in Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism commenced to develop respectively.In Sui and Tang dynasties,Ti-Yong from Buddhism became full-on logical and structured and integrated with various interpretations from every school.Also a large quantity of Ti-Yong concepts has been utilized in Buddhism translation.It was the combination of Xuan Xue and Ti-Yong that improved the theoretical speculation in Daoism.And it was the sprout of Ti Yong that made Confucianism the beginning of Neo Confucianism ofSong and Ming Dynasties.From Song to Qing dynasties,the understanding of Ti Yong was comprehensive as well as the logic of it.However,the truly contribution to Ti Yong was Neo-Confucianism.With the effort of Ti-Yong structure,Zhou Dunyi finished the ultimate transformation in Confucianism from Jing Xue to Li Xue."Body and function from one source,appearance and hide with no space" which was proposed by Cheng Yi has a profound influence on the latter period of Chinese philosophy.Thereafter no matter Qi Xue,Li Xue and Xin Xue,their theory construction and competition were all relied on Ti-Yong.At the same time,Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism Islamism mutually criticize and mutually blend on the basis of the logic of Ti-Yong.Fang Yizhi and Wang Fuzhi became the epitomes of developing the Ti-Yong thought of Chinese traditional philosophy in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.This period belongs to the sinicization of the Islam.Liu Zhi completely combined the Islamism with the logic of Ti-Yong,thus realizing its blending with Chinese traditional philosophy,especially the NeoConfucianism in Song and Ming dynasties.Since modern times,Chinese culture suffering strong blows from Western dominant culture,the logic of Ti-Yong played an important role in the surge of the fate of the Chinese culture.And all kinds of arguments about the essential-practical relationship between Chinese culture and Western culture rises one after another,which are still not over today;what is more important is that this period has entered in a time when the conscious reflection on the thought Ti-Yong started,which set the stage for the formation of the Ti-Yong philosophy.Second,according to researches,the core sense of Ti-Yong category is the common connection between Being and Beings in this world;Logic behind the static aspect is shown as "substance-function(performance or usage)",and when it comes to dynamic aspect,it is shown as"entity-function(manifestation or fashion)".Ti-Yong category is one of the top Formality categories in Chinese Philosophy;It can be explained by any Substantive category and other kinds of Formality categories.This basic structure of Chinese Philosophy(Confucianism,Buddhism,Daoism)--"??-??",or "entity-capability",formed by Ti-Yong category and the top Substantive category“Tian-Ren",is in sharp contrast against what in West Philosophy-"Thought-Being",or“entity-cognition”.The cause of this dramatic difference between Chinese and West philosophy is the great difference between ways of spiritual activity in bottom philosophy culture,that is,"Reflect" in West and "Retrospect" in Chinese philosophy.Also,because of this,West philosophy and Chinese philosophy has its own "Ontology",and West "Epistemology" based on"cognition" against Chinese“Capabilitology" based on "??"?The communication between Chinese and western philosophy should be premised on the subjectivity and worldwide of Chinese philosophy and based on the new subject of "(world-history)-human".This can be the new mission of Chinese Ti-Yong philosophy and the inevitable direction of world philosophy in the future.In all,the historical study and the philosophical analysis of the whole thought of Ti-Yong show that Ti-Yong thought runs through the history of Chinese philosophy,and it has abundant content and diverse patterns.It is not only the center of the thinking of the Chinese philosophy system but also the key of total to master the interfusion interaction of Confucianism Buddhism and Taoism.What's more,it is one of the hub to develop the communication of Chinese culture and western culture in modern times and future.
