Assessment of visual quality after femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusisPurpose:Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis?LASIK?has been widely used as a safe, effective and predictive surgery for the correction of myopia and myopic astigmatism.Due to the uneven thickness of the flap and the high risk of corneal flap production, the corneal mechanical lamellar knives have been eliminated.Femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis?FS-LASIK?is currently used, and the subjective and objective visual quality assessment of the operation has not yet been systematically reported. Therefore,it is necessary to study the changes of visual quality before and after FS-LASIK surgery. Methods:One hundred thirty-four eyes from 68 consecutive patients with myopia or myopic astigmatism were enrolled in this study.Visual acuity and OQASTM II two-channel visual quality analysis system were measured before operation and at 1,3,6,and 12 months after FS-LASIK.NEI-RQL-42 questionnaire was measured before and at 12 months after FS-LASIK.Results:Variance analysis of spherical equivalent?SE?,spherical degree, cylinder and logMAR UDVA before operation and at 1,3,6,and 12 months after FS-LASIK was performed. The spherical equivalent decreased significantly, statistically significant?P<0.05?,and there was no significant reduction in spherical equivalent at 3,6 and 12months after operation.LogMAR UDVA decreased significantly from 1.17±0.35 to-0.01±0.37,and the data were statistically significant?P<0.05?.OQASTM II results showed the patient's modulation transfer function cutoff frequency?MTF cutoff?,strehl ratio?SR?,and objective scattering index?OSI?.The data before operation and at 12monthsafter operation were not statistically significant by two-sample mean t test. The NEI-RQL-42 questionnaire data before operation and at 12 months after operation were analyzed by two-sample mean t-test.The total score of visual quality before and after operation was 64.64±23.90 points and 82.31±15.78 pointsthe difference was statistically significant?P<0.05?.According to the results of the quality of life scale, the improvement of score was significant?P<0.05?in limited mobility, dependence on corrected vision, poor corrected visual acuity, appearance and corrected vision.Near vision, distance vision, daytime visual fluctuation and self-consciousness scores were not significantly different?P>0.05?.But glare score was decreased. In addition, the remaining observation index scores?visual clarity, expectations, concerns?were improved?P<0.05?.Conclusion:Patients after FS-LASIK operation have better subjective and objective visual quality and high surgical satisfaction.Changes of corneal high-order aberrations after femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusisPurpose: To assess corneal high-order aberrations after femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis?FS-LASIK?.Methods: One hundred thirty-four eyes from 68 consecutive patients with myopi aor myopic astigmatism were enrolled in this study.Corneal topography and visual acuity were measured before operation and at 1,3,6,and 12 months after FS-LASIK.The high-order aberrations?HOAs?from the whole cornea, anterior cornea and posterior cornea were measured by Pentacam. Results: Corneal aberrations on the posterior surface were less affected by FS-LASIK compared with those on the anterior surface and the whole cornea. The high-order aberrations?HOAs?on the whole and anterior corneal surfaces increased significantly at 1 month after surgery?P < 0.05?,while HOAs on the posterior surface did not significantly change?P > 0.05?.The spherical aberration on the whole corneal and anterior corneal surfaces were significantly increased at 1 and 3 months postoperatively?P < 0.05,respectively?,along with the vertical coma on the whole and anterior corneal surfaces at 1 and 3 months?P < 0.05,respectively?.There was no significant difference in horizontal coma or trefoil 0 on the whole, anterior and posterior corneal surfaces after surgery compared with preoperatively?all P > 0.05?.Conclusion: After FS-LASIK changes in corneal aberration occurred mainly on the anterior surface, which may have a significant effect on visual quality.
