During the period of Republic of China,there are rapid changes in social environment in China.The establishment of new Chinese medicine institution,the birth of medical journals,medical theories from the western world,and the revival of acupuncture,were all affecting the Chinese medicine doctors' perception on the diagnosis,treatment of stroke.Since some of the literature during the period of Republic of China is lost and great amount of information is preserved in those journals that were not well studied yet.Objective:The study is to investigate the Chinese medicine doctors' perception on the diagnosis and treatment of stroke during the period of Republic of China by analyzing journal articles published during that period.Methods:Search for journals that were published during the period of Republic of China by using online database and collection of libraries in different locations.Extract articles discussing the diagnosis and treatment of stroke from the journals.Analyze the content of the articles and summarize the characteristics in various aspects related to the treatment of stroke.Results:829 articles published between the year 1911 and 1949 with related topic name were extracted.507 articles were related to the treatment of stroke and thus were included in this study.The journal papers were published in different countries and places,including mainland China,Hong Kong,Taipei,Singapore,Malaysia and Japan.Conclusion:The three main etiology of stroke is WEI-FENG,INTERNAL CAUSE,and Integrated Chinese and Western Medical therory.Due to the Western Medicial knowledge introduced into China,new treatment was appeared in that period.
