Research On The Methodologies Of Interior Design Based On Spatial Integrity

If a building is a place to shelter the body,then the interior space is obviously the primary motivation of construction.However,the division of development process shows that there is a lack of sufficient interaction between Interior Design and Architecture.From the perspective of pedagogic,the design methods of the two fields present an obviously separation of development trajectories.As a specialized job,interior design has revealed a general distinction from architectural specialties in values and ways of thinking since its birth.Era background,social consciousness and service object are the decisive factors for the difference of the two concepts,which directly influence the cognition of spatial concepts and their respective design orientation,and become the objective contradiction that interferes with architectural integrity.This will be the primary focus of this paper on the study of design method.The theory of scientific system regards integrity as the basic characteristic of the system and provides two possibilities to realize the integrity.If a building is compared to a complex system,then the integrity of the building has two reverse implementation ways,"top-down" and "bottom-up".This means the discrete building noumenon and interior of the building can step into wholeness from their respective positions,"form the outside in" or "from the inside out".The concept of multivariate space in philosophy,painting and architecture provides an enlightenment of method for resolving contradiction between "male-female,academic-craftsman,public-daily".This is an important bonding point in this paper on the study of design docking method.Interior design can be approached to architectural integrity in three ways with concrete methods: from the concept of space to the concrete experiences;from material technics to spatial operation;from the internal facilities to the integrated thought.Those methods have a entry point for the three main contents of interior design,contrast the logic and positions of contradiction,using the convertibility of architectural spatial concept such as abstract-concrete,vision-perception,substance-virtuality,through the steps of Perspective Conversion,Elements Conversion and Figure-Ground Conversion,to achieve the intention of dispelling contradictions and unifying order,gradually moving towards each other’s position and achieving organic unity.In the context of rapid construction or building renewal,the methods above are worth practicing and referencing for the frontline practitioners of the twomajors.
