Research On Landscape Design Strategy Based On Place Context Evaluation

The vast majority of landscape design is renewal and redesign of the existing living environment based on the place itself.The place is formed in a specific space-time condition,which contains the imprint of nature,as well as the cultural achievements and information generated by human activities.As landscape is a kind of design language,the place context is just the context and background of the language use.An excellent landscape should form a good dialogue relationship with the surrounding environment and maximize the environment’s inherent characteristics,the key to which is to unscramble the context accumulated in the place and have the judgement.By establishing a measurement mechanism for the place context,the most valuable part that conforms to the progress of the times and meets the needs of the present can be selected,assimilated and conversed reasonably,and finally integrated into the new landscape.First of all,the composition of the place context in landscape environment is discussed under the system framework.The different kinds of the existing forms and existing environment of cultural elements are clarified.Two levels of the connection in the context are summarized——including space context and cultural background.The place context system’s characteristics and functional significance in landscape design are pointed out.Secondly,the relationship between the different forms of elements and the place is analyzed in the synchronic dimension;and the vicissitude of the connection in the context and the evolution of the cultural elements is explored in the diachronic dimension.By unscrambling the place context in landscape environment,the value dimensions of the cultural elements are determined,the operation mechanism of the context structure is analyzed,and the evaluation index system for place context is established.Next,according to the characteristics of place context system,with the help of digital technologies,the place context evaluation model is built from the element level to the structure level with qualitative and quantitative methods.From the two dimensions of diachronic and synchronic,the cultural elements’ value in landscape environment and the context structure’s ability to maintain healthy and sustainable are evaluated,providing a scientific basis for the formulation of landscape design strategies in the specific place.Finally,according to the results of the unscrambling and evaluation of the place context,the landscape design decisions are guided based on the coupling principle.In the early stage of design,the orientation of landscape design should be determined according to the characteristics of place context structure,the sustainable development of landscape in the future could be achieved through the structure optimization strategy and environmental guidance strategy.In the middle stage of design,the existing cultural elements in the place are coupled with the specific landscape design contents,reasonable protection and utilization strategies are formulated and suitable landscape functions are given according to the value characteristics of the cultural elements.In the later stage of the design,the localized landscape vocabulary and grammar extracted from the place context are used to tell stories about the place and achieve the spiritual resonance between people and the place.Through the above-mentioned process,mechanism and methods,the theory of place context can be applied to landscape design practice,promoting the progress of landscape design method.There is 4 innovation points:1.Perspective innovation: Research deepening process from element level to structure level.2.Theoretical innovation: Construction of place context measurement mechanism in the landscape field.3.Method innovation: Combining qualitative and quantitative methods for the place context evaluation in the landscape field.4.Results innovation: Conversion from place context evaluation to landscape design strategies based on the coupling principle.
