The private gardens in Suzhou are the magnificent apex of Chinese classical garden art and the unparalleled world precious heritage,and they have important research values.It is consensus by the ancient and modern landscape gardeners that the garden elements are abundant,space layouts are exquisite,the construction methods are numerous,the skills are consummate,the researches are so difficulty.Since last century,the study of private gardens in Suzhou has produced many classic theories and important works.To promote development of Suzhou private garden,this study puts forward the concept of “Landscape informatics”,combines three-dimensional digital information technology with landscape architecture,take the existing Suzhou private gardens as the research object and the existing Suzhou private garden – Huanxiu Shanzhuang(HXSZ)as study are,use the current advanced digital mapping technology to obtain data,and use the surveying data to analyze the garden elements,and construct information models and system of garden objects by using three-dimensional information technology to manage informations.In the modern digital mapping process,this study,on one hand,analyzed the characteristics and contents of the surveying and mapping objects of private gardens in Suzhou,and studied the environmental characteristics and surveying and mapping requirements of private garden surveying and mapping.On the other hand,this study compared the characteristics,advantages and disadvantages of modern digital mapping technology.It selected the the digital mapping technology suited for the surveying and mapping requirements of Suzhou private garden,including terrestrial three-dimentional lascer scanning,terrestrial close-range photogrammetry,unmanned aerial vehicle close-range photogrammetry and ground control point,to formulate a reasonable surveying and mapping scheme to carry out surveying and mapping of the research area,obtain the garden's three-dimensional mapping data,and make operations,such as prepossess,georeference,merge,precision measurement,reality-based models,point cloud model section and drawing.Finally,two dimensional mappings,three-dimensional point cloud models and realitybased models are obtained.This part of research proves the fact for the digital mapping of private gardens in Suzhou,the comprehensive surveying and mapping method combined with multisensor multi-source data is more efficient and has better mapping effect.In the processs of garden elements information analysis,based on the data of modern digital mapping,this study took advantages of the surveying data in comprehensiveness and precision and analyzed systematically from three aspects: rockery and water body,garden architecture and garden plants.The analysis of rockery,stone and water includes the structure and composition of the rockery,stacking method and stacking order,texture and texturing method.The analysis of garden architectures includes architectural complex,building monomer component and parameterization.The analysis of garden plants is mainly based on plant varieties.This part of research proves the fact that based on digital surveying and mapping data,the analysis of private garden elements in Suzhou is more systematic,comprehensive and accurate.In the process of garden information model and system construction and information management,this study is based on the data of modern digital mapping and the analytic results of various garden elements.On the basis of data processing,it used BIM technology to construct the information model of garden building monomers and artificial mountain stacking method,and made use of 3D GIS technology to make summary of each landscape elements in each part and each component data models,various types of 2D and 3D files,and the geometry and nongeometry information system of gardens to set up Suzhou private garden information system,establish the information system,build the relationships between informations,and integrated manage the landscape informations.This part of research proves the fact that the information management of Suzhou private gardens needs to adopt the integrated information management method combining the techniques of BIM and 3D GIS.Through the analysis of the above three part researches,this study obtained,the threedimensional digital data and information of private gardens in Suzhou,build information system for the private gardens in Suzhou,the application methods of modern digital surveying and mapping and 3D information technology in the studies of private gardens in suzhou,put forward a complete set of methods and scheme for 3D digital information technologys applied to the concept of private gardens in Suzhou.The results of this research lays a foundation for the further utilization and analysis of private garden information in Suzhou,and proves the feasibility,necessity and great prospect of 3d digital information technology for suzhou private gardens.The three-dimensional digital information technologies will push the landscape research into the digital information age.And it is of great significance and value for the research of Suzhou private garden researches to breakthrough its bottleneck and achieve further development.
