The improvement of people's living standards is driving the growth of energy consumption demand(The International Energy Agency(IEA)'s ?2019 World Energy Outlook ?),more energy consumption is leading us to a serious environmental crisis. For the purpose of environmental protection, insisting on sustainable lifestyle and transforming environmental knowledge into environmental action(UN's ?Millennium Ecological Assessment?)has become a global strategy,it is also one of China's national strategies for the construction of ecological civilization. This study takes urban community residents as the main research object. The data collection is carried out by means of questionnaire survey and environmental education activities, and the reliability and validity of the data are tested using SPSS software.Through data analysis, the obstacles and the contributing factors in the realization of residents' environmental behavior have been identified.Logit regression analysis and structural equation model have validated the Fishbein's integrated behavior model and the theory of identity process.By designing innovative and statistically more rigorous measures for behavioral cost and attitude impact on behavior, environmental behavior's low-cost hypothesis has also been confirmed. The main conclusions and contributions of this research are as follows:Firstly,it explores the influencing factors of residents' environmental behavior in the course of developing sustainable lifestyle.Based on Fishbein's integrated behavior model in combination with elements of Self-determination theory and Regret theory, this research studies the relationship between demographic factors and the three key behavior determinants(attitude, perceived norm,self-efficacy),and the relationship between the above three determinants and behavior realization. The results show that intention has significant effect on environmental behavior(SRW = 0.585,p < 0.001),which suggests the applicability of Fishbein's integrated behavior model in the study of environmental behavior of Chinese residents. The interaction between knowledge and social interaction has prominent effect on behavior realization, and the effect of attitude on behavior is lower than what the research has anticipated.Residents need more perceived norms and self-efficacy on behavior, not only to cultivate good environmental attitude.Residents are found to conduct more positive environmental action after having formed environmental intention.Secondly, quantitative assessment of the impact of behavior cost on residents' environmental behavior.By including more attributes in survey, this research is able to propose and construct more rigorous measures for behavior cost and attitude effect on behavior based on statistics and behavior utility model. With those new measures, low cost hypothesis of environmental behavior is demonstrated in a more rigorous way, that is,behavioral cost modulates the relation between attitude and behavior negatively. In addition, through logit regression analysis, key behavior cost components of various environmental behaviors are identified. The results show that different behaviors have different cost components;inappropriate facilities, loss of comfort and behavior habits change, and financial burden are the key cost factors of environmental protection behavior of urban residents in China.Thirdly, this research carried out a study on the identity process and influencing factors of individual environmental behavior and collective environmental behavior. From the perspective of individual and collective, this study integrates Self completion theory,Self determination theory,Social identity theory,Social cognitive theory, and proposes a comprehensive theoretical model based on identity process. The results show that the process of self-identity has a significant impact on environmental behavior, while the process of social identity has little impact on environmental behavior. There is a positive correlation between individual behavior and collective behavior, but the influence strength of different behaviors is different, and energy-saving behavior turns out to be the least affected one.Among all factors, the influence of collective identity and self-efficacy on the overall environmental behavior are the most prominent ones. This research shows that the environmental behavior of Chinese residents is still at the individual level, and awareness or consciousness at collective level is still lacking.Fourth, the practice of community environmental education.Through participating in the environmental education practice and observations in "Lingyun Ecological Base",this part summarizes seven strategies of community environmental education reform in China, reflecting philosophically on the transformation from "Living Aesthetics" to "Living Environmentalism".Finally, through the questionnaire survey, analysis of the community's environmental behavior has been carried out in order to assess the effectiveness of environmental education on environmental behavior.
