Modern Life In The Image

Taking Shanghai,the birthplace of the Chinese films,as the starting point,this thesis gets a clear look at the fashion life and the fashion design of modern Shanghai through the film images.With the female stars under the video as the entry points,it focuses on the relationship between the early images and the fashion concepts,the boosting effects of the film-derived publications on the promotion of the fashion culture,the fashion elements of the female stars in the video,the evolution of the fashion design,and the fashion trends and the fashion consumption aroused by the film images,etc.From 1896 to 1949,the film industry of Shanghai experienced a process from implantation to rapid development.The "modern" concept was introduced to Shanghai through the European and American films,creating a new fashion culture.From 1920 s to 1940 s,the film industry of Shanghai flourished,which made the stars the focus of public attention.This thesis presents a “sample” of the typical urban life-style of modern Shanghai through the films and other video materials of modern Shanghai.It uses an interdisciplinary perspective to interpret the fashion concepts of modern design,analyzes the development characteristics of urban life and fashion design,and discovers that the stars under the images were not only the products of modern fashion entertainment,but also the witnesses and participants of Shanghai fashion culture.The images,videos and text materials left by them outline a new scene of urban fashion life for us.As a perspective,the images has restored the fashion life of modern Shanghai,and provided a reference for research.The study finds that there is an inseparable relationship between the films,fashion design and fashion culture.By the fashion design of the female stars under the image,we can see the style of clothing has evolved from singularity to diversification,while the design style and dress concept have got a clear western brand.By the construction of fashion trends and fashion evolution under the images,we can see the fashion culture has played a huge role in promoting Shanghai’s fashion industry and fashion consumption.Therefore,the interpretation of this thesis on the fashion of modern Shanghai from the perspective of the female stars under the video can not only make us understand the process of the fashion culture and the urban fashion lifestyle in modern Shanghai,but can also profoundly reflect the changes of the fashion value and the consumption system in the course of Shanghai’s modernization,and its profound influence on the development of the Chinese fashion culture.
