Research On The Localized Cultivation Of Ecological Citizens

The concept of ecological citizen originated from the western society in the end of last century.It was developed to deal with increasingly severe ecological crisis in the development of industrial society.Currently,China,a developing country,is confronted with various challenges in ecological civilization construction,such as how to carry out ecological civilization construction which has an intimate connection with people's wellbeing and Chinese nation's future,how to build a beautiful China,how to bring about a great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,and how to implement them into citizens' daily life and specific actions.Therefore,it is of positive significance for eliminating ecological crisis in the development and constructing socialist ecological civilization in China to analyze ecological citizens and search paths to its cultivation in the new era in Chinese context.Ecological citizens in China can be demonstrated and construed in two levels.Firstly,when the society is fully developed and achieve the utmost ideal,ecological citizens are modern citizens living in ecological balance and enjoying nature.This is determined by humans' sensitivity to and love for nature.Secondly,as socialism construction with Chinese characteristics is in the process of comprehensively deepening reform and focusing on enhancing ecological civilization constructions,ecological citizens are contemporary citizens who are sensitive to and love nature.They have ecological wisdom and self-restrain abilities,and protect and repair environment in daily life.They pursue a life in ecological balance and enjoyment of nature with endeavors and actions.The moral appeals for ecological citizen cultivation in the local context are different from citizen morals in the general meaning.Ecological citizens wish to deal with the relationship between human and ecology and therefore realize harmony and co-existence through morality which is different from social conscience and non-human-oriented.The peculiarity of such morality is regulating the relationship between human and ecology with love as the media,sensitivity as the reactor,and abstinence as the measure.Cultivation of ecological citizens in the local context needs to be implemented in proactive actions.Only proactive actions lead to the cultivation of ecological citizens,and only eco-friendly actions embody the harmony and co-existence of ecological civilization.Ecological citizens' actions need to be guided by some certain goals,which lead ways to the ultimate aim.Such goals for actions including establishing brand-new citizenship,integrating new rights and obligations,taking actions in both private and public spheres,regulating individual actions by legislation,and confirming eco-friendliness as the basis of ecological laws.The purpose for studying ecological citizens is to solve ecological crisis and construct ecological civilization in China by cultivating ecological citizens in Chinese context.There are three paths to localization of ecological citizens:institutional guarantees for,educational approaches to,and building action systems of ecological citizen cultivation in the local context.
