Born in later Ming Dynasty,Ming-style furniture attracted the worldwide attention with its unique structure and classic style.Just as other historical product,it is a technical culture,not only showing the unique charm of Chinese classical furniture,but also experiencing a complete process of emerging,developing,reaching its peak stage and regressing.Afterwards,Qing-style,foreign-style and modern furniture were emerging.In the background of cultural revival at present,the improvement and innovation of Chinese furniture has always been based on the core pattern of the Ming-style furniture,which shows its powerful and exuberant life.Based on the complex relations of production and consumption in terms of region,economy,humanities and technology,furniture is not a simple art form,but a materialized result of human behavior.According to the anthropological cultural theory,we can clarify the relationship between the cultural factors by analyzing the overall cultural appearance formed by the economic life as the core.At the same time,imitating the Ming Dynasty life by using of the archaeological objects,historical figures and other real material can achieve a goal,observing the history more objectively and practically.Whereas,the knowledge and evaluation on the Ming-style furniture,Ming-style furniture system and its impact on the entire Chinese classical furniture system can represented scientific significance instead of subjective randomness.The construction of Ming-style furniture system should be on the recognition of the difference between Ming-style furniture and its historical system so as to build the exclusive characteristics of the Ming-style furniture system.Surrounding the center of historical reality of the Ming Dynasty furniture and clarifying the various economic factors around it,the paper finds out the internal organizational relationship among the influencing factors to build a Ming-style furniture system.Regarding to the economic life of Suzhou city,the paper divides technicality between Ming-style furniture and life into three categories,i.e.the connotation of the Ming furniture,the related consuming and producing behavior,and other materials and tools used in the production.Technical culture of Ming-style furniture system is under discussion hereby.Chapter 3 discusses the similarities and differences of Song-style and Yuan-style furniture in the revolution of the Wu-language area and the Central Plains area to prove that Ming-style furniture boosts both traditional awareness and comprehensive connotation effected by regional culture.The regional cultural characteristics were affected directly by the great wood technique in Suzhou-style construction the aesthetic trend of Suzhou-style handicrafts,which will be presented by literature and practical examples.Chapter 4 focuses on the interpretation of the social behavior where the Ming Dynasty furniture existed.Base on the analysis of the consumption behavior,the manufacturing behavior and the modeling behavior,the paper expresses the direct effect made be value culture,the social structure and the system on the social behavior and the influence of the traditional consciousness and the regional cultural consciousness to the consumption and the production behavior.Chapter 5 discusses the materials of the Ming-style furniture,which is the result of "technology" culture.As the main material foundation,these raw materials and tools were constituted the structure of the Ming-style furniture in the production process,and the final reflection of the combination of the manufacturing behavior and the modeling behavior.Through the analysis and discussion,we find that the Ming-style furniture has its own law during formation,based on its own style,Ming-style furniture is the expression of three stages sense accumulation,social behavior and material content,which influence on one another and meanwhile is consisting of the whole technical system naturally.The concept of "Ming style furniture system" is proposed to establish a rigorous,logic and systematic theoretical system.Ming-style furniture will be learned from a more comprehensive and objective perspective,developed on the art,technical and cultural path to grasp predictably the development trend of the traditional Ming-style furniture in the contemporary or future.
