Research On Process Oriented Modelling Approach For Spatio-Temporal Phenomena

Time,space and attribute are three basic features of geoscience phenomena spatio-temporal process evolution or three basic data components of GIS database.It is one of the key research focus about how to model spatio-temporal process in a GIS mechanism.To meet the requirements of geoscience phenomena historical flash back and dynamic inversion,the real world must be recognized in a process aspect.While the currently exist spatio-temporal modelling methods are mostly focus on computer representation and based on events or spatio-temporal changing queries rather than geoscience phenomena.There are few distinct definition and basic relation description on geographical features or phenomena.A new Spatio-Temporal Process Model is presented in this project which introduces ?-Calculus to represent and manipulate the dynamic changing process of real world geo-phenomena evolution process.The semantic definitions of entity,attribute and action,as well as the topologies among multi-spatio-temporal entities are given after introduces ?-Calculus to Spatio-Temporal Process Model.Mechanism,conceptual model,logical model,and physical model are developed to provide a new idea for spatio-temporal modeling research.(1)Develop and describe STPM architectureDevelop the model for managing dynamic spatio-temporal process in real world.Due to the close relation between process and information transfer,the new problem about information management occur,which includes process evolution,interaction between spatial process and temporal process,interaction between spatial process and spatio-temporal process when information transfering.Therefore,this study develop new constructing model of process based on ?-Calculus to describe and manage information transfering processes,and describe how to apply these information to temporal and spatial trajectory.Moreover,to introduce semantics of?-Calculus to this description and to research classification and management of these information in spatio-temporal process are also studied in this paper.(2)Construction of STPM conceptual modelIn this section,we research classification of spatio-temporal model,analyzation and evaluation of present spatio-spatial model,?-Calculus-based Spatio-Temporal modeling method and STPM conceptual model.In addition,specific entity,attribute,behavior in spatial,temporal and spatio-temporal domains and topological relationship among multiple spatio-temporal entities in STPM when introducing ?-Calculus are defined.(3)Construction of SPTM logical modelLogical model is the expression way of logic of SPTM information.From the view of application function and capability,the SPTM information logical model is the most important part of the whole project.It involves theme domain for establishing infromation,the partition of granularity level,the strategy of data partition,relation model,and so on.Logical modelling is a key step in STPM because it can reflect the need of users directly,and it can guide the physical implementation of system.In this section,logical process model,some problems about design of spatio-temporal logcal process model are studied.(4)The application of STPMSome typical spatio-temporal phenomena are chosed in this study,and the research on using SPTM to describe modelling havior of natural penomenna in real world are carried out through instances.
