Research On The Relationship Between Managers’ Behavior And Construction Workers’ Safety Behavior:the Moderating Effect Of Social Capital

Recent years,with the rapid development of construction industry,construction safety accidents and construction workers’ casualties always stay a high level,and the worker’s unsafe behavior is one of the important causes of the accidents.Due to the liquidity and decentralized of construction activities,traditional safety management theories didn’t have a good effect in the process of application.Nowadays,researchers start to pay attention to the theory of social capital which has important effect on people’s safety and health,however,there is few researches on the field of construction.The social capital that owned by construction workers has an important effect on their behavior decision.It would be great meaningful for improving construction workers’ behavior and reducing safety accidents to analyze the impact of managers’ behavior and social capital on construction workers’behavior.Aiming at these problems,the main work and conclusions of this paper contain the following three parts.First,this paper found the relationship between managers’ behavior,construction workers’ safety behavior and social capital by case study method,and established the theoretical model.Based on the advantage of case study method on exploring the relationship and theory,this paper selected a typical construction engineering project,got the related information and data through the methods of site investigation,interview and observation,and combined with the related theory,this paper established the theory model of the impact of managers’ behavior on construction workers’ safety behavior.Second,this paper confirmed the influencing relationship among managers’ behavior,construction workers’ safety behavior by structural equation model(SEM)and social capital.To test the applicability of the above established theory,this paper got the data of 93 engineering projects over the China by questionnaires,and confirmed the impact relationship of managers’ behavior(leadership behavior and management behavior)on construction worker’s behavior(safety compliance behavior and self participation behavior and safety altruistic behavior)and the moderating effect of social capital.At last,this paper analyzed dynamic evolution equilibrium of manager’s behavior and construction worker’s safety behavior by evolutionary game theory.The result found that the evolution equilibrium strategies of manager and construction workers under different levels of income.On this basis,adding the factor of social capital,the paper analyzed the value range of social capital income when they adopted the safety behavior strategies,and the paper put forward the two suggestions to improve manager’s and construction worker’s safety behavior.
