The research on integrated urban land use and transportation has always been a hot topic in the urban space research area.UrbanSim is one of the most representative models and it has been widely used in many cities of foreign countries. In this paper, the structure and application direction of UrbanSim were well studied and UrbanSim was applied to Atlanta Metropolitan Area at zonal level to simulate the process of urban development. In this paper, scenario analysis method was applied and three scenarios were designed to simulate the process of urban development according to the characteristic of research area. The interaction between transportation, land use and socio-economic demographic factors can be found by studying on the differences between NoTDM scenario and Baseline scenario, which can be used to make the best plans for land use under the optimize transportation system. The comparision of Beltline and Baseline and let us know the interaction between policies, land use,transportation,socio-economic demographic factors and how they affect the activities of residents and employment better. And this research can provide references for the urban planning programs.Meanwhile,an energy consumption regression model was created based on the UrbanSim outputs to forecast the total energy consumption of residents and CO2 emissions, which can expand the founctions of UrbanSim and provide research ideas for the other research areas. The research on the UrbanSim model is a beneficial exploration in the field of urban micriosimulation under the large scale in our country and it can provide some references to the other researchers. The research of UrbanSim can promote the development of planning support system, improve the theoretical level and strengthen the planning practice of quantitative analysis of our country.
