This study intends to examine how social and informational diversity in groups can affect to individual creativity.Using Categorization Perspective and Social Learning Theory,it has been proposed that group diversity can contribute to the individual creativity. Two mediators have been used: information elaboration with the five moderators(task complexity, group size, task interdependence, group tenure and group dispersion)and leader's emotional intelligence with the work flexibility.Hypotheses based on convenient sampling have been supported by the results of 196 groups. These groups were selected from four cities of Pakistan and China;professionals were working in Banking and Telecom sectors. The findings of the moderated mediation suggested that information elaboration mediates the association between diversity and individual creativity. In addition, this relationship becomes stronger in a condition when moderators are present.Similarly,in mediated moderation model results also got support for the leader's emotional intelligence when work flexibility was high. |
