In recent years,the impact of trust and control on the performance of construction projects has drawn the attention of scholars.However,in practice,the synergy of control and trust should also be considered in the performance improvement of the construction projects defined as a temporary contract organization.In the governance structure of the project,the employer and the contractor establish a controlling and being controlled relationship by contract.However,due to a large number of unknown risks can not be accurately predicted in advance,coupled with asymmetric information and incomplete information,moral hazard often occurs bilaterally.Studies have shown that good cooperation between the two sides will play a positive role in performance improvement.Meanwhile,to establish long-term cooperative relationship requires coordination of control and confidence.If the relationship between trust and control is unable to be identified,trust or control will be set up blindly,which make trust and control can not reach optimal levels.In view of this,the paper through literature research,theoretical deduction,surveys and empirical analysis and other methods explored relationship between trust,control and project management performance:1.Analyzed and organized the literatures on control,trust and performance improvement of projects.this research summarized the main related results at home and abroad.From one side,the related results laid a foundation of this research,from the other side the related literatures supported the theoretical hypothesis.2.Based on project governance theory,literature research concering the relationship of trust and control,as well as their impact on project performance improvement has been analyzed detailedly.And then,we built trust,control,the synergy of control and trust and project management performance association model and presented the research hypotheses.3.Based on literature reviews and theoretical deduction,as well as expert interviews and group discussions,we defined trust,control and project management performance,and established measurement scale of the three constructs.Through questionnaires,the measurement scale reliability and validity have been tested.4.We analyze the collected 154 valid samples data with structural equation model,and tested proposed research hypothesis,which revealed the relationship and action mechanism between trust,control and project management performance.
