Research On The Impacts Of Spatial Division On Regional Economic Growth

Since the reform and opening up,China has gradually tured its economic entity from closed type to open type under the joint action of globalization,informatization,decentralization,marketization,urbanization and other internal and external forces.It forms a wider and deeper economic relation with other countries and regions,rapidly developing into a key node of economic globalization.The Yangtze River Delta,as one of the most economically active regions,has developed into a region where possesses the strongest comprehensive strength among the participants in the global competition and has carried out a lot of pilot exploration and practice in terms of spatial division and economic growth.Under the establishment and implement of the new round of regional development strategy and domestic industry transfer policy,improving the spatial division level in the Yangtze River Delta,maintaining and expanding the agglomeration economic advantages of spatial division are of great significance to construct a competitive economic network system.As a state of presenting industry,city and enterprise in the developing process,the spatial division plays a unique role in the development of regional economy,making different disciplines such as economics and geography pick different emphases to discuss with the relationship between it and regional economic growth.The existing research on the spatial division and regional economic growth under the different theoretical basis,fails to build a complete and unified analysis of the framework,so there are divergences among the various theories.Therefore,this paper mainly focuses on the following four respects:Firstly,what is the micro foundation of spatial division?Secondly,what is the mechanism of spatial division to promote regional economic growth?Thirdly,what is the presented carrier of spatial division?And why industrial spatial division and functional spatial division become superposed?Forthly,what is the relationship between spatial division and regional economic growth on the basis of specialized division?In order to answer the above questions,this paper systematically hackles the relevant literature on the spatial division and some theories such as international trade theory,regional labor division theory,spatial economic connection theory and economic growth theory.It explores the micro foundation of spatial division from the perspective of enterprise.The spatial division forms agglomeration economy through the forward and backward linkage,professional labor market and knowledge spillover,increasing trade volume,improving efficiency and expanding the market size to promote regional economic growth effectively.According to the mechanism that the spatial division can promote regional economic growth,it is reasonable for this paper to build a theoretical model of the spatial division.By exploring the microcosmic basis of spatial division and its mechanism,this paper recognizes industry,city and enterprise as valid carrier to display spatial division,and accordingly a theoretical analysis framework of "micro foundation-mechanism-three carriers:industry,city and enterprise" has been constructed.Under the guidance of this analysis framework,empirical research is carried out by using the basic principles of industry economics and econometrics.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)In terms of industry carrier,this paper pays more attention to the important manufacturing industry and service industry of economic in the Yangtze River Delta.At present,the level of specialized manufacturing division and spatial division is relatively high.Historical factors and the relative scale of industry conduce to the promotion of spatial division in the manufacturing sector,but the scale economy of industry and ownership interest has a significant negative impact on it.Through empirical test of econometric model,it finds that when the level of division of labor in the manufacturing sector is increased by one unit,the economic level will increase by 20.847%,and the manufacturing industry needs to be more concentrated in some sub-regional units.Therefore,it should pay attention to improve the level of divisionin the manufacturing sector in future,bringing the agglomeration economic advantage of division of manufacturing space into full play.The specialization of the service industry in the Yangtze River Delta has been continuously improved and has been developed into a higher level.The results show that the higher the comprehensive competitiveness is,the lower the specialization level of the service industry.And the service industry has the characteristics of agglomeration to the core area and diffusion to the surrounding areas,forming the "Z"shaped corridor of "Nanjing-Zhenjiang-Changzhou-Wuxi-Suzhou-Shanghai-Jiaxing-Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Ningbo-Zhoushan".The spatial division of the service industry has a positive spillover effect in adjacent areas,if the spatial division in the neighboring cities increases by 1%,the improvement of the spatial division in the city's service industry will increase by 0.319%.The level of urbanization and the urban information flow have significant positive impacts on the spatial division in the service industry,while the effects of export openness,the scale economy of the industry,and the level of transportation are significant negative.On the basis of specialized division,the positive correlation between spatial division and regional economic growth is significant.They show the cubic function relationship according to the curve estimation.The results show that the contribution of space division to economic growth is positive,but it also has some negative effects.Therefore,only improving the level of spatial division may not be able to promote economic growth.When formulating a policy,it is necessary to fully understand the connotation of spatial division,and guide the formation of a reasonable layout of spatial division.(2)In terms of city carrier,the development stages,speed,competitiveness and problems of different cities are various.According to human resources,economic development,social development,infrastructure,and ecological environment index,the Yangtze River Delta cities have been effectively classified.It is divided into four circle layers,including the center city,sub-center city,sub-sub-center of the city and radiation city,showing the overall pattern of city space division.The level of professional industry of the first three layers of cities continues to improve,but overall is still low,compared with the developed countries and regions,there is a big gap.There is a negative correlation between the level of specialization and comprehensive competitiveness,while the level of functional specialization is positively correlated with the overall competitiveness.Most of the city's manufacturing sector concentration is higher than the average level of the Yangtze River Delta.An obvious division pattern of "management department-production department" is formed between the two former layers and the two latter layers of cities.The implementation of the industrial structure adjustment strategies,including the "reindustrialization","industrial 4.0","2025 China manufacturing" and actively developing mid-high manufacturing industry promotes the emergence of new manufacturing sector agglomeration.In the presence of division,trade and contact,the Yangtze River Delta economy shows,"1+1>2" effect.The economic linkage of cities have the dual characteristics of the networked and hierarchization,and the degree of economic linkages among the cities located in the "Z" corridor of service industry is obviously higher.With the deepening of the space di'vision,the function of the city's outward connection has been strengthened,but the gap among cities has gradually been widened.Thus based on the clear position of the city function,the future development direction of the spatial division of the Yangtze River Delta is to enhance the internal and external economic relations through the center,sub-center city circle layers drive sub-sub-center city,radiation city circle layers.(3)In terms of enterprise carrier,the Yangtze River Delta is actively engaged in bringing in and going out.Through the joint action of internal and external enterprises,the level of international division system has been effectively improved,and the enterprise's economic structure is becoming more and more perfect.The layout of China's top 500 enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta is quite diverse,forming a closely interrelated network of enterprises with a certain depth of space division.Among them,Shanghai is at the core position,and Hangzhou,Nanjing,Ningbo,Wuxi,Nantong,Suzhou are in the secondary core position.Economic ties of enterprises between the central city and the sub-center of the city circle layout have been more closed.While Changzhou,Yangzhou,Jiaxing,Wenzhou and other cities are in the end of the network or the edge of the enterprise network in the entire region.Affected by geographical location,industrial linkages,economic development,transportation and other factors,some cities' enterprises are more closely related to Shanghai,Suzhou and Ningbo.In the Yangtze River Delta region,both the spatial division of the entire enterprises and the domestically funded enterprises have a significant effect of economic growth,and the spatial division of domestically funded enterprises is more obvious.Therefore,compared with the entire enterprise,to further deepen the space division of domestically funded enterprises have promoter action.Through the theoretical analysis and empirical test,the innovation points of this paper are as follows:Firstly,this paper is trying to do the research from the perspective of which can not only examine the spatial characteristics of economic activities,but also can quantitatively measure and can integrate into the economic growth model.Based on the division of space,this paper clears its types,the micro foundation,the mechanism of promoting regional economic growth and carriers,meanwhile,it pays attention to the division of industrial space and the division of function space.Secondly,this paper relies on the space division theoretical analysis framework,which is " micro foundation-economy-carrier:industry,city and enterprise ",and systematically analyzes the expressive form,influencing factors and the dynamic mechanism of spatial division.Based on the basic professional specialization model of new classical economics,the paper constructs the model of spatial division and the regional economic growth theory,and the empirical tests of manufacturing industry,service industry and enterprises prove the hypothesis that space division has a positive effect on regional economic growth through.Thirdly,this article reasonably classifies the internal cities of the study area,avoiding the traditional practice of research which regards them as the same level,and the research on the urban spatial economic link and the enterprise network can provide reference for the development of the more developed economic circle.
