Research On The Effect Of Manufacture Agglomeration On Urbanization

Since the reforming and opening policy has adopted,China's urbanization developed at a rapid speed.In 2014,China's urbanization has up to 54.4%,which has exceeded the world average level.At the same time we also have to realize that there was still large gap between China and the world's high-income countries.How to improve the urbanization in China has become a large question.Manufacturing as the basis of urban economic development,rapid development and agglomeration of manufacturing can promote the rational distribution of factors in the interregional and regional,improve regional concentration of elements and economic development level,and promote the development of urbanization.However,the effect of manufacturing agglomeration on urbanization is merely on theoretically and empirically,such as the effect is linear or non-linear,the effect of manufacturing agglomeration on the efficiency of urbanization,the spatial effect of manufacturing agglomeration on new urbanization,and so on.Therefore,it is urgent to systematically discuss the effect of manufacturing agglomeration on urbanization.This paper constructs the influence mechanism of manufacturing agglomeration on urbanization theoretically from three perspectives:urbanization scale,urbanization efficiency and urbanization comprehensive development level.The paper used the industrial economic geography,new economic geography theory,total factor productivity theory and spatial econometrics theory,as well as empirically test the influence of manufacturing agglomeration effect on the urbanization linear and non-linear,the influence of manufacturing agglomeration on urbanization efficiency and the spatial effect of manufacturing agglomeration on the comprehensive development level of urbanization.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:?The level of industrial agglomeration in China is increasing year by year.The results show that there are industry and regional differences.The manufacturing agglomeration degree of the eastern region is higher than the other regions as well as the national average level,while the central and western regions is lower than the national average level.?Manufacturing agglomeration has a positive effect on urbanization,it depends on the types and areas of industries.The effect of technology-intensive manufacturing on urbanization is more effective than capital and labor-intensive manufacture.Manufacture agglomeration has a Siphon Effect on the urbanization development of adjacent area.?The effect of agglomeration of manufacturing industry on the urbanization in backward areas is more obvious than that of other regions.The scale of large and small urban will have a positive effect on urbanization.The concentration of manufacturing agglomeration in the regions with high and low service agglomeration level has no significant effect on urbanization.?The effect of manufacturing agglomeration on the efficiency of urbanization is affected by the level of technological progress and the rate of regional economic growth.Because of the redundancy of investment in energy and capital and excessive discharge,the efficiency of traditional urbanization is higher than that of ecological urbanization.The effect of the advanced manufacturing structure on the efficiency of urbanization is stronger than the rationalization of manufacturing structure.At the same time,the effect of manufacturing agglomeration on urbanization efficiency is related to the speed of regional economic development.The effect of structural change on the efficiency of urbanization is not significant when the regional economic development is fast.On the contrary,when the speed of regional economic development slows down,the effect of manufacturing structure change on the efficiency of urbanization gradually enlarges.The paper has done the following innovative work:? Theoretical analysis framework level.The paper constructs the influence mechanism of manufacturing agglomeration on urbanization from three perspectives:urbanization scale,urbanization efficiency and urbanization comprehensive development level,and discusses the influence of manufacturing agglomeration on urbanization from the perspective of linearity,non-linearity and space.?Research perspective level.The urban heterogeneity is included in the scope of investigation,and the non-linear effect of manufacturing agglomeration on urbanization is tested empirically.?Research method level.The paper uses the non-radial and non-expected SBM model to measure the efficiency of China's urbanization.At the same time uses the Luenberger decomposition method to decompose the urbanization efficiency.The non-linear effect of manufacturing agglomeration on the scale of urbanization was tested by using the threshold panel regression model.This paper using spatial panel Durbin error correction model,analyzes the spatial effects of manufacture agglomeration on urbanization.
