The course of China's development since leaded by the Chinese Communist Party is the process of arduous exploration leading to scientific development. So it is with the course of making economic development strategy. Although there is still a long way to go, we have got profound enlightenment and accumulated rich experience.The economic development strategy studied in this paper is the overall strategy, which is made by the Chinese Communist Party as the ruling party and serves the national economic and social development. It is related to the global long-term issues of national economic and social development in the planning and decision making. So this paper is not to discuss regional, sector, and corporate strategies, but the strategic environment, target, guideline and focus in different stages of development of the Party from a macro view. This paper deals with two kinds of relations in the writing. One is to handle the relationship between the party's strategic thoughts of economic development and the economic policies of the government under the leadership of the Party. Economic thought guides the economic policy and economic policy is the specific reflect of economic thought. There is a corresponding relationship between them. The research object of this paper is the rich contents and the historical evolution of the thoughts of economic development strategy since the foundation of the Party. Therefore, this paper focuses on the Party's economic ideas and not the specific economic policy. It introduced briefly the Party's important strategic economic development plan. The other is to handle the relationship between the party's strategic thoughts of economic development and the thoughts of economic development of the important leader of the Party. Thoughts on economic development strategy of the Party is a part of the Party's economic thoughts and are the crystallization of collective wisdom of the whole party. The important leaders of the Communist Party of China has played an important and key role in the process of the formation and development of the party's ideological and economic development strategy, but they can not replace the thoughts of economic development strategy of the Party. The thoughts of economic development strategy, as the party's collective wisdom crystallization, is discussed in the paper, which also gives an objective evaluation of the party leaders' important historical role in the formation and development of the idea of the economic development strategies.This paper analyses the rich contents and the historical evolution of the thoughts on economic development strategy since the foundation of the Party from the vertical and horizontal aspects. From the vertical dimension it studies the historical evolution of the Party's economic development strategy thought since60years ago. This paper focus on the masterstroke of scientific development, follows the objective laws and characteristics of the economic development strategy thought of the Party, teases out the evolution track of it and divides it into four historical stages, the planned economy era (1953-1978), rapid economic growth era (1979-1991), the sustainable development era (1992-2002),and the scientific development era (after2003) and has a holistic grasp of the Party's60years' economic development strategy from the vertical dimension, and expounds the economic development strategy thoughts with the theme of scientific outlook is the crystallization in the process of continuous construction and making progress. From the horizontal dimension it emphasizes the thoughts of economic development strategy of the Party are a combination of Marx's economic theory and the economic practice of China, is the development of Marx's economic thoughts and its sanitization. From the horizontal dimension, it focuses on the period after the reform and opening up, when China's economic development steps into the fast lane, and divides the economic development strategy thoughts in three historical periods into four sections, namely strategic environment, strategic target, strategic policy, strategic focus. And it gives a detailed analysis of the rich contents of the economic development strategy thoughts of the Party in each historical stage.The economic development strategic thoughts of the Party is analyzed and evaluated in this paper from two aspects of static state and dynamic state. The related dissertation of the Max and Engels on economic development theory is the direct theoretical source of the economic development strategy of the Party after the foundation of new china.The second chapter introduces the exploration on the economic development strategy of the Party under the planned economic system. There were mistakes and also achievements in this period, which laid the foundation for future economic development, and provided experience reference for the major turning point of the party's economic development strategic thoughts after the reform and opening up.The third chapter introduces a major turning point in economic development strategic thought back to taking economic construction as the center from1978to1991.
