Since the beginning of this century, we have witnessed the rapid devel-opment of wireless communication technology. User's explosive growth in demand for wireless communications is reflected in the increased demand for diversification of business types. In this way, for the demand changes, a wide range of wireless communication technology came into being. Different char-acteristics of such technologies determine that every single technology becomes irreplaceable. In today's wireless communication scenarios, a variety of differ-ent characteristics of the network service has a wide-range business needs of the user equipment. There have been a variety of different types of wireless networks overlap the same area. The phenomenon emerges that for the same area of the user to provide different services. It has always been a widespread concern in both industry and academia to make these different types of wireless communication technology coexist fairly and efficiently. The development of wireless communication is to evolve into a multi-level and diversified business experience for users of different needs. The com-position of the wireless network will be further developed in the direction of heterogeneous networks. These wireless heterogeneous networks will have an open, dynamically adjustable feature. Operators, network service providers and even end users can provide services. Wireless resources can be dynamically as-signed, so that the spectrum utilization can greatly improve. Users in the hetero-geneous network can achieve seamless switching, obtaining a greatly enhanced user experience from the transparent wireless network. Service providers are also able to provide users with a broad and flexible business while achieving significant revenue through greatly improved spectrum utilization and user ex-perience. This thesis focuses on the coexistence of wireless heterogeneous net-works, coordination strategies and network convergence, while getting the con-clusions of corresponding guidance.First, the coexistence of wireless heterogeneous networks is a prerequisite for coordination and convergence. It is the basis for multi-network coordination and convergence. In recent years, although the research on network coexistence is rich, with the rapid development of wireless technology, coexistence research is not timely enough. Especially for the LTE-A/WiFi coexistence, the academia have suffered the lack of key research results. In this thesis, the coexistence of wireless heterogeneous networks focuses on the coexistence of new wireless network technologies such as LTE-A and WiFi systems, and study their coex-istence in the non-authorized bands, laying a solid foundation for the follow-up coordination and convergence research.Second, coordination between wireless heterogeneous networks mainly refers to the exchange of information through the network side and coordination control. It is to achieve better coverage, reliability or business balance and mo-bility and other benefits. The promotion of network coordination will mainly be reflected in the communications among the base stations or between the base station and the user. In these expenses, we should try to make the complexity of additional overhead can not cover the performance benefits brought about by it. This requires the collaborative research of wireless heterogeneous network, the development of new collaborative mechanism model, and new evaluation systems. Finally, the convergence among wireless heterogeneous networks is the highest level of coordination between multiple networks. Among the different wireless network technology standards, the difference of performance, tech-nology and specialty is self-evident. It has become the common concern of industry and academia to integrate different technologies to achieve efficient coordination between multiple networks, user performance, coverage, reliabil-ity and mobility, and to optimize the quality of service. In this thesis, we focus on the fairness between the new wireless heterogeneous networks such as LTE-A and the application of MAC layer scheduling technology, and deeply study the performance of wireless heterogeneous network convergence technology in the process of rapid evolution. In conclusion, this thesis starts with research on coexistence, and then on the network coordination, while finally in-depth study of network convergence will be involved. Specifically in this thesis, the coexistence studies of LTE and other wireless networks and systems will be discussed. Licensed-Assisted Ac-cess to unlicensed spectrum of LTE network will be fully described, meanwhile the coordination between WiFi and LTE-LAA will also be studied. With the proposal of Dynamic Radio Access Selection (DRAS), the thesis throws light upon the optimization methodology for LAA/WiFi radio access strategy. As for network convergence, it is proposed in this thesis a novel traffic capacity assess-ment model for different wireless air interfaces, and a novel QoE assessment method alongside. In this thesis, we study the part of the coexistence, coordina-tion and convergence in the above-mentioned heterogeneous network, making up the gap in the relevant field. Next we carry out the theoretical verification and the conjecture through the corresponding system- or link- level simulation platform. Further, proof on the relevant issues can be great guidance of the the follow-up studies.
