Research On The Role Image Of Excellent Counselors In Colleges And Universities

The research on college counselorsin China has become a hot issue in the field of education with theirspecialized and professional progress.Establishing a good image of the role of college counselors is not only an important way to strengthen the construction of college counselors team,but also a need to improve the quality of higher education.On the one hand,research on outstanding university counselors'role is conducive to the formation of leading culture,the inheritance of values and the creation of good atmosphere;on the other,it is propitious to provide theoretical guidance and practical strategies for the construction of college counselors team,and show excellent models for the development of individual counselors.In the broad sphere,the research starts from the image of outstanding university counselors,guided by role theory and media framework theory.It selects the National College Counselor of the Year(2008-2013)as the sample,designs research framework and strategy reference from the text(policy text,annual figures' stories),source of publicity(annual figures)and receptors(college counselors,professional teachers,administrators and students)in order to show the image of outstanding university counselors in a multi-angle and three-dimensional perspective to the greatest extent.Moreover,the research applies the role theory,sorts out the historical evolution and attributes of college counselors'images,reveals the basic characters and features,explores the process and feeling of shaping the images,shows the social effects of characters,and puts forward some relevant suggestions.In theory,it enriches the knowledge of College Counselors role culture;in practice,it promotes the practice of the construction of college counselor team.This research is novel and innovative to some extent.Qualitative and quantitative researches are combined in the paper.Besides,it explores the roles of outstanding college counselors from two angles:"be supposed to do" and "what is actually done" on empirical research with literature analysis,text analysis,interviews,questionnaires and comparative analysis,etc.The contents and conclusions are as follows:First,through the policy text analysis,it deals with the evolution of the role of college counselors and its basic attributes,and puts forward three characteristics of its evolution.In addition,this paper expounds its political,educational and cultural attributes and the conflict and integration of the multiple roles of college counselors.Second,with the text analysis of the stories of the National College Counselor of the Year(2008-2013),this paper advances the image of excellent counselors,i.e.guardians of love,professional instructors and stage builders of college students as well as theoretical explorers of the work of college students,and then it refines the characteristics of four basic roles.Third,through the interviews with excellent counselors about their personal experience and subjective world of growth in a "micro-deep delineation",the paper tries to make those typical representatives of outstanding college instructors air their voices,so their images will be richer and more practical.Fourthly,through the evaluation of the social effects of the college counselors'annual selection,the papermakes a comparative analysis of the attention,acceptance and influence of four different groups,namely,college counselors,professional teachers,administrative staff and college students upon excellent college counselors and the selection.Fifth,this paper brings forth the countermeasures and suggestions to enhance the roles of excellent college instructors.It discusses the strategies of promoting the personal image from the self-improvement,the protection of the role of the counselors,the social effects of its transmission.
