Purpose:By checking historical articles related to the causes and pathogenesis of stroke disease,the formulas for stroke disease and wind-phlegm diseases from Dictionary of Traditional Chinese Medicine Formulas and combining the outpatient cases of doctor Ding Yuan-qin,a specialist in neurology from University of Shan Dong Traditional Chinese Medicine.Then analysis and discuss the rules in the formulas of the pathogenesis of wind-phlegm and its related pathogenesis,establishing formula data bank combining with the methods of modern statistic.Method:To establish the data bank by utilizing "Dictionary of Traditional Chinese Medicine" as main searching source to search formulas for stroke disease which related to wind-phlegm pathogenesis,and then combining the cases of outpatient of Doctor Ding,Yuan Qin.The statistic and analysis software is SPSS 19.0.Results:External Wind Causing Stroke was advocated between East Han and Song dynasty,pungent,warm.moving and channeling,fragrant,dry flavor herbs were mainly used.During Jin and Yuan dynasties,the factor of internal wind was started to be emphasized.The use of herbs tended to assist health,dispel phlegm.In contemporary time,the pathogenesis of Heat Phlegm has been increased,the characteristic of adopting herbs with Bitter Cold combine with Sweetness Cold is obvious,and adjusting liver becomes priority.The most common pathogenesis is Phlegm,Heat,Blood Stasis.Obstruction.The classic symptoms includes tongue with dark red color,thick tongue coating with yellow color,pulse is String Slip.Long term poor habits likely lead to phlegm heat,smoking is one of the main reason of causing Carotid artery atherosclerosis.Carotid artery atherosclerosis is an important reason of Stroke disease with pathogenesis of Phlegm-Heat.Conclusion:The prevention of heat phlegm for stroke disease is an important subject for clinical practice at this moment.In this essay,adjusting the balance of qi,blood,yin and yang,keeping the smooth of qi and activities of organs,eliminating heat phlegm and the accumulation of blood stasis,removing the harm of fire-heat are the keys to prevent the stroke disease.
