The cases study has been carried on the basis of cnki.net and Chinese Medicine Classics.Results:1. The kidney is a union of body and spirit through kidney qi. The brain is in charge of the body by qi. The interrelated connection of kidney and brain is seen by the coordination of meridians connection, essence and marrow transformation, yin and yang attributes, as well as Shen and qi function.2. The theory of interrelated kidney and brain is guided by the philosophical proposition such as Yin and Yang, which has affected Chinese Medicine deeply, based on meridians connecting and pertaining, essence and marrow transformation, and showed as complex functional contact.3. The interrelated connection of kidney and brain has its specific mechanism, essence and feature, which is important to human body's life, qi's movement, union of body and spirit, emotion, memory, behavior and action.Conclusion:Kidney and brain are interrelated by qi. The coordination of qi's ascending and descending is the mechanism of interrelated connection of kidney and brain. Both kidney and brain have two attributes, innate and acquired. The brain is in charge of Zang-Fu organs. The Shen of brain is in charge of the Shen of five Zang organs through qi. Qi connects essence and Shen in kidney, Du channel and brain system, to implement human body's self-organization and the union of body and spirit. Innate deficiency, excessive work or rest and emotional harm, which lead into insufficient essence and marrow transformation, and irregulate qi's ascending and descending are the main etiology and pathogenesis of interrelated kidney and brain diseases.
