The climate has always been the key element for the emergence and developmentof architecture. At present, energy and environmental problems have become hugeobstacles of further development. Besides, the progress in technology provides peoplewith unprecedented consumption driving force, and at the same time, encouragedconsuming of non-renewable resources and leads to environmental crisis. Therefore, tochange the traditional thinking habit and restore the healthy interaction betweenbuildings and climate are the foundation of sustainable development. The population ofChina is huge and widespread, resulting in significant regional differences such asclimate, geographical environment, natural resources, urban construction and economicdevelopment, per capita income, living level and social codes and so on, thusleading to different demands of building technique. In this way, according to thesocio-economic and technological development level of a specific region, and also theclimate and other external conditions, it is a must and vision of the industry to studysystematically from such aspects as architectural form, spatial organization, tectonicsystem, solar energy utilization technology through the architectural design process, inorder to improve the evaluation method of thermal environment quality of building andenergy-reducing consumption. This article starts from people and the relationship between architecture andclimate. As building is a compensatory means for human to obtain comfortable climaticenvironment, it will inevitably act as the interface and carrier between people andcomfortable thermal environment, which is in relevance with outdoor climate, and themethod can be applied as a breakthrough point for forming the theoretical support of overall climate buildings. The methods of climatic construction design and low energyconsumption building are the basis of the theory, applied together with completeconstruction methods and integrated architectural design strategy, as well as technicalmeasures of each specific form suitable for the local construction mode. The range of study focuses mainly on the adaptability and applying mode of thepassive design mode under western plateau climate. Tests are based on data extractionfrom the census of common features for the western plateau climate parameters, as wellas differentiation rule. Large-scale field investigations and subjective feedback surveysare made among the local existing urban and rural construction. Also, detailed tests arerun to get indices such as environmental quality and energy consumption. The climateadaptation for the local traditional residences attributed to construction strategy ofrefining and evaluation methods, along with the mix of the rule suitable for westernplateau natural and climatic conditions, minority culture, social and economicdevelopment, and the integrate construction technology level of low energyconsumption building under climate model, in order to realize the minimum energyconsumption of heating and air conditioning for a thermal comfortable condition, thusto complete the western plateau climate construction mode of low energy consumptionbuilding construction, making specific passive building design strategy of the timebeing applied with full cooperative effect in the complete system. At last, climateanalysis software and dynamic simulation analysis software can be simulated to predictbuilding energy consumption to show energy-saving effect, also, graphical display isable to select a typical construction scheme to fulfill a strategy for certain climate, thusto complete this kind of design method in the whole process of the discussion.
