As the main space of human life, smart home has to meet the pursuit of people’scomfortable and convenient life. In order to achieve this goal, the kind of familyenvironment should be built in which human and all devices in the family could bejoined together better. And in this environment, the goal that device service for peoplein imperceptible status could come true. However, the realization of the goal shouldbe based on the coordination of devices in family and sharing of information andresources.In order to realize the coordination, the sharing of information and resourcesbetween equipments, to achieve the purpose of device service for people inimperceptible status, the smart home system are studied in this paper. The ontologytechnology is used and the ontology model of smart home system is constructed.Semantic relations between dimensions of different information in the smart homeenvironment are established which add semantic information for devices and servicesprovided by them. The semantic information can shield the heterogeneity amongdevices, and realize the information and data sharing between equipments. Thisinformation is the foundation of the coordination between devices.In the practical implementation, this paper mainly studied in the following fiveaspects:(1) The overall framework of smart home is built and the smart home layerclassification in the framework is completed. The semantic layer is constructed on thetraditional equipment layer which provides semantic support for the smart homedevice, services and other entities.(2) Through the abstraction and analysis of the smart home environment, thedomain ontology model of smart home is built. Eight ontology models are included,they are device model, service model, function model, user model, need model,content model, location model and context model. Between the eight ontology models,semantic relation is established based on attribute and a network is constructed. As themain body of smart home system, the system classification and abstraction of deviceare finished. The general information and personalized information on device areadded with semantic description. The home gateway and control equipment couldcontrol or call the device in the smart home.(3) Based on OWL–S, smart home service ontology model is constructed whichprovides a semantic description for the services provided by the equipment in smarthome. First, the abstraction and description for the smart home service classification,the function of service and service content are completed. Second, the serviceregistration and release form are studied, and the service is released in the form of aWeb Service, and is registered in the service ontology model.(4) Making use of the features that axiom and rules could be inserted in the ontology model, inference rules based on description logic are applied in the ontologymodel. User-defined rules are embedded in ontology model. Through invokingprofessional reasoning machine, the implicit information in the ontology could bereasoned out based on the concept ontology model,.(5) Storage, update, and query of ontology model are studied. In terms of storage,ontology models are stored in the relational database, and the semantic relationshipsof ontology model are retained in the relational database. In terms of ontology modelupdate, ontology instance update method is studied, and the updating algorithm ofontology instance is given. In terms of query, based on the ontology model, the querysystem is built. Taking the context of smart home environment and the service queryfor example, the query process is researched.In order to validate the ontology model, this dissertation invokes the ontologymodel through the application, gains the semantic relations between the differentinformation in the home environment. The controlling equipment could query theservices and equipment in smart home according to users’requirements and determinethe services and equipment that meet users’ demand. Automatic call for equipmentand services could be implemented through which people and equipment of the familywill be together and achieve the purpose of device serving people imperceptibly.
