| Henry Dutilleux is one of the most important French composers in the second half of the twentieth Century."Progressive Growth" is the core technology in the creation of Dutilleux’s mature works. In the first part, this thesis clarifies the" Crossing Theme " in three orchestral works created in1950-60’. In the second part, there are comprehensive analysis of materials and structures of the second symphony. From these, one could observed how "Progressive Growth" can works as a technique. Through the analysis, the link between "Progressive Growth" and "Pivot note" and their effect on the structure are gradually clearness, and the generalized tonal nature in the fundamental idea for the composition structure of Dutilleux has been revealed. |
