The core spirit of Lin sanzhi’s calligraphy is the construction of "scholars’ calligraphy", which absorb the spirit of scholars in the traditional culture to the calligraphy. His calligraphy thought is different with other systems, paying more focus on the experience and inspiration of life, and is an expression of consciousness of humanity that emphasize on comprehension.Lin sanzhi stresses the importance of learning, which put forward requirements for the ability of calligraphers to improve their artistic ideology through continuously learning. Facing the decline of classic civilization, Lin sanzhi uses poetic creation to maintain the linkage of calligraphy and classic civilization in the way of thinking and aesthetic.Linsanzhi is undoubtedly of the great importance familestonein the modern grass writing. Grass writing is an important part of Lin sanzhi’s calligraphy system.By analyzing the characteristics of his grass writing in different period, we will involve in a series proposition of "pen and ink ideology", history of grasswriting and Inscription rubbing.Lin sanzhi devotes himself in the construction of calligraphy aesthetic, and emphasizes the subject consciousness through artistry. By studying the aesthetic ideology of Lin sanzhi, we learn that he perceives the attribute expression and formation of calligraphy through the standpoint of art. Particularly, we can learn his unique though of calligraphy aesthetic by his interpretation of Da chongguang’s aesthetic ideology. Moreover, Lin sanzhi’s calligraphy aesthetic has been reinforced by his outstanding calligraphy creations.Subject consciousness of the calligraphy of Lin Sanzhi is also reflected in education thought. From Huang Binhong to Lin Sanzhi, it has formed a new way of inheritance:the painting system created by Huang Binhong was inherited by Lin Sanzhi who carried forward it in calligraphy, from which the inspiration of teaching methodology about calligraphy can be obtained. Although the calligraphy at that time did not possess the independent subject characteristics, yet Lin Sanzhi has started to make a very fruitful exploration in calligraphy education. In the condition of no existing teaching method and teaching experience, Lin Sanzhi basically grasped the macro development trend of modern calligraphy teaching, and eventually promoted calligraphy into the the development system of higher education.Calligraphy thoughts of Lin Sanzhi were conceived in traditional culture. He observed the cultural form of painting, poetry, philosophy directly or indirectly through calligraphy, and established an effective interaction among them. Lin Sanzhi, as an art individual, has grown in a period which tremendous changes of calligraphy environment, social and historical environment occurred. Therefore, he has to be put in the whole social history background, so that people can grasp his way of calligraphy development more comprehensively and objectively.
