Shen Yinmo’s calligraphy thought is embodied not only in vernacular works but also in poems on calligraphy. This article attempts to summarize and analyze Shen Yinmo’s calligraphy thought, through his36poems on calligraphy, combining statistical and speculative method, which is a new perspective.Shen Yinmo raised his point of view in his poems that excellent tradition should be respected and "Two-Wangs" should be held in high esteem, which is also a powerful critism of Guo Moruo’s view in "Lanting Argument". Shen Yinmo’s poems on calligraphy also reflets his comprehensive development concept over calligraphy that We’d learn from former calligraphers so as to make innovations, and we’d enable the stone inscription rubbings and copying models of handwriting jointly developed, calligraphy schools well developed. Shen Yinmo highly praised Yu Youren’s movement on standard cursive script in his poem, which can not cover his opposite unity of thought that calligraphy is both practical and artistic, but practicality is more obvious. Besides, poems on calligraphy is an important source of Shen Yinmo’s thought on calligraphy creation, revolving round "brush strokes, writing gesture and writing conception".Calligraphy thought in Shen Yinmo’s poems on calligraphy has a profound impact on the development of calligraphy in20th and21th Century. Shen Yinmo’s poetry achievement on calligraphy has contemporary enlightment, that traditional calligraphy theses should be developed as well as modern academic papers, calligraphers should enhance their comprehensive cultivation by reading and seeing the world.
