Tea is one of the three major drinks so that there are enormous drinking consumers. Tea industry is a significant component of agriculture. With the adjustment of the macro-economy structure and agricultural structure, tea becomes irreplaceable in social needs and peoples life because of both its ecological benefits and economic benefits. Besides, as the long-term development prospect, tea industry has been regarded as underpinning of increasing rural economics in mountainous areas and farmers’income.(Tea production as a pillar industry plays an important role in increasing rural economics in mountainous areas and farmers’income.)Guizhou not only is a traditional agriculture province, but also is a province where has a large number of tea production. The Party and government pay attention to the development of Guizhou economy, and Guizhou Province focuses in building the tea industry as one of five characteristics in Guizhou as well, so as to driving the adjustment of agriculture economic structure and increasing the profits for the general tea planters in Guizhou. The government has implemented "farm land returning to woodland" and others favorable measures in the project of the West Development, in addition, the document<The CPC guizhou provincial party committee of guizhou provincial people’s government to accelerate the development of tea industry> has been launched by the provincial government in2007. All the above political strategies could strengthen the confidence of which tea industry in Guizhou would become more and more big and strong. The province’s tea output in2010was52,300tons, the output value was5.16billion RMB,which accounted for7.87%of the total output value of the whole province’s agriculture. In2011, the total area of tea plantations enlarged to over4million acres, which made Guizhou to rank the second tea producing province in China. The tea producing counties has increased from several to forty, and there are116villages and towns where each of them has had over10,000acres tea plantation. It is predicted that, during the period of "the Twelfth Five-Year Plan", the total area of tea plantations in Guizhou Province will develop to7million acres. Tea industry plays a driving role in strengthening the rural economy development and increasing tea planters’income. However, as far as the overall situation is concerned, the development of tea industry in Guizhou is still at the primary stage, and compared with other traditional tea producing provinces, there is still a large gap between Guizhou and other provinces.(OR a large gap between Guizhou and other provinces has been existing). Therefore, Guizhou Province’s tea industry faces huge challenges both in the domestic market and in the international market. The core content of the research is to reconsider the sustainable development pattern of tea industry, and to explore the sustainable development paths of tea industry focusing on the present and the future. The questions mentioned below are the major issues in the process of developing Guizhou’ s tea industry that needed to be addressed, including:how to take advantage of the unique natural conditions in Guizhou, how to reduce ecological environment destruction in the process of planting, how to expand the tea industry development in Guizhou, which kind of sustainable development patterns should be taken on Guizhou’s tea industry, how to keep the prevention and control of plant diseases in harmony with the protection of ecological environment of tea plantation. Hence, the dissertation picks the key factors that how the traditional prevention and control pattern for tea plant diseases affects the sustainable development of Guizhou’s tea industry as the research object, which is based on industrial ecology, ecological economics, environment economics, industrial economics, sociology, and agriculture as theoretical frameworks, and applies various relevant theories including sustainable development theory, agricultural economics theory, negative externality theory, competitive advantage theory, and technical innovation theory along with the analysis approaches of pesticide residue. It is in order to study how applying chemical pesticide to control plant disease during the tea production influences the sustainable development of Guizhou’s tea industry, and explore and test the green way of prevention and control in the process of Guizhou’s tea production. Eventually, the research attempts to discover an approach of which could both stabilize the tea output and reduce the negative influence to the ecological environment of tea plantation, so that enable the sustainable development of tea industry to fulfill in Guizhou. The study includes nine parts. The first part introduced the purpose and significance of the research topic. It is described that the importance and necessity of studying issues on the sustainable development of Guizhou’s tea industry as the research objective, and generalized the main contents of the research. Meanwhile, it introduced the whole structure of the dissertation, the methodologies used in the research, and the possible innovations. The second part was associated with relevant theories and other researches in the literature review. Firstly, fundamental theories needed in the research were introduced in the section, which provided theoretical evidence and guidance for the research on sustainable development of tea industry in Guizhou Province; and then the research background and trends, and key points in different countries would be introduced respectively as the foundation of the research. The third part introduced the basic situation on the development of economy and society and the current development of tea industry in Guizhou. The research applied SWOT to analyze the current development of tea industry in Guizhou according to previous research results, that were presented at the literature review in the second part. It has found opportunities, challenges and problems in the development of tea industry in Guizhou Province. Through analysing prior studies and finding existing problems was for the purpose of understanding the reality of tea industry development, and laying the groundwork for problem-solving strategies.Based on the research condition of tea industry in Guizhou Province, The forth part analyzed in detail about the amount of pesticide residues of tea in Guizhou Province. By field sampling in the intensive tea plant districts and connecting with the current laboratory application, we analyzed the tea pesticide residues from main tea districts in Guizhou Province, and examined the exact data for the limited amount of the tea pesticide residues from main tea districts in Guizhou Province by professional instrument such as high performance liquid chromatograph and gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer (GC-MS).Then we analyzed the results, and captured the influencing factors of pesticide on tea industry in the development of tea industry, preparing accurate evidence for further developing strategies. The fifth section described using Path dependence theory to analyze the traditional approaches of pest control, and finding the reasons that why tea farmers choose the traditional prevention and control approach at first. Then, the research collected the basic data by interviewing tea farmers who were living in the main area of tea production. The basic economy data was collected by questionnaires, and then using SPSS to conduct regression analysis, that could find the relevance of pesticide application and the economic benefits for tea planters. Then we assessed the whole cost and benefit of the tea production combining with the negative externality. The assessment provided strong support for the applicability of effective protection on tea plant disease. In sixth part, with regard to the experimental results above, we analyzed the results of pesticide residues in tea from Guizhou Province, and examine how it negatively influence the economic effectiveness. Picking Biological pesticide control techniques and Swatch control technology, we did field experiments in tea gardens from Shiqian county and Libo county, and found out the environment-friendly approaches to improve tea production and quality as well as prevent the products from plant disease. As such, it was guaranteed that the benefit of tea planters increases will not be at the expense of the environmental destruction, which could enhance the harmonious development between tea industry in Guizhou Province and environmental protection. Also, the final results from the experiment will provide possible strategies for the sustainable development of tea industry in Guizhou Province. The seventh part aimed to explore systematically the relationship between the environment-friendly protection technique on plant disease in tea gardens and the sustainable development in tea industry. To be specific, It is clarified that the correlation and feasibility of environment-friendly protection technique on plant disease in tea gardens in the development of tea industry, which could indicate the practical characteristics of the environment-friendly protection on plant disease in tea gardens. Final, design o a sustainable development of tea industry patterns in Guizhou Province. In the eighth part, we summarized the former research, and propose strategies for the sustainable development of pesticide implementation on tea industry development in Guizhou Province. Finally, the dissertation is concluded by summarising the main research contents and putting forward further research questions that need to be discussed in future.
