As for now, the widely spread idea of sustainability has far more exceeded economic and social dimensions. With astonishing pace of development, sustainability exerts more and more influence to every subject in our life and becomes one of the leading principles of these subjects, including landscape Architecture. However, when we take a second look of our design works that claims to be sustainable, it’s often dissatisfactory to find that those sustainable ideas are more conceptual tags than real principles. In fact, sustainability has for long being merely an option in designing rather than one of the fundamental standards no matter how eagerly that we seems in chasing for the idea of sustainability.Landscape Architecture in21st century does not need complete reconstruction any more. In contrast, it needs us to slow down our pace, reconsider the relationship between human and environment, reconstruction of the brown field and the balance of the ecosystem. And the difficulty in implementing these new ideas cannot be the excuse of our no efforts at all. What is inspiring is that there is a growing awareness among population that building an ecological, green and sustainable landscape is of great importance to nowadays heavily polluted society. The problem is that when the sustainable landscape idea encounters the problem of investment, profit or political achievement, the latter choices are often favored. Under this background, the landscape Architecture should be viewed as a social heated issue and taken research effort into.Based on the above analysis, taking "contemporary Chinese sustainable landscape Architecture strategy research" as the direction, on the basis of the study about the unreasonable current situation, which especially emphasizes on the objective factors of hindering on the sustainable landscape development In order to let more people no longer "abuse" and "misreading" sustainable landscape of the real connotation, this paper aims at carding the concept of sustainable landscape as the basis, summarizing the landscape Architecture principles and technique combined with related cases. I hope that people could understand the essence and connotation of the sustainable landscape more profoundly. Anyway, achieving the construction of sustainable landscape in contemporary China is not an academic issue that only belongs to landscape design field independently, regarding the development of sustainable landscape as a social issue is the way to achieving the sustainability. In order to achieve the sustainability, it should firstly guarantee the construction and process is sustainable, the "sustainable" at this point basically belongs to the internal issues of professional field. Moreover, the completion of sustainable landscape Architecture does not mean that the landscape could be in good situation all through the development. Due to social attribute of the completed sustainable landscape, the characteristics of the sustainability embody the external features of professional field. Consequently, the core part of this essay is to expound the possibility of achieving the long-term development of sustainable landscape by placing the construction of sustainable landscape in an integrated system of cultural strategy, economic strategy, technology strategy and management strategy.
