The eco-geological environmental factors of Beihai New District in the Yellow River Delta weresystematically analyzed and studied in this paper with the theoretical and methodological guidanceof ecology, environmental science, mathematical statistics, etc., and integratedly using techniquesand methods such as field research, geographic information system (GIS), remote sensing (RS) andso on. A variety of methods were used to assess the environmental quality of surface water, groundwater environment, soil environment, and engineering geological environmental quality. Some environmental issues were comprehensively analyzed such as wetland degradation, coastlinechanges and brine resource overexploitation. Evaluating index system was set up to assess theregional eco-geological environment with the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) andfuzzy-comprehensive evaluation method. Based on the evaluated results, Beihai New District wasplanned as four functional areas. The results provide an important technical basis and planning levelsupport for the urban development planning, coastline resources development, ecologicalconstruction, disaster prevention and environmental protection in Beihai New District. The researchresults had an important practical significance to achieve efficient ecological economy developmentmodel through adapting regional social economic development to the carrying capacity of resourcesand environment.
