With the fast development of Internet and other network applications, users are not only satisfied with the information obtaining from Internet but also desired to get more useful online services to cater for their requirements. Web service combines the advantages of component-oriented method and Web techniques. It utilizes the standard network protocol such as Simple Object Access Protocol SOAP and the uniformed XML data criteria for communication. However, a single Web service can only provide one function to do one thing. Web service composition is able to create and customize complex service with abundant functions by using smaller and simpler services on Internet. It is possible to integrate many small Web services with some logic for obtaining a loose coupled bigger Web service with complex functions.Due to the lack of important and useful semantic information, it is not easy to describe the function of Web service and to make its semantic information unambiguous. Therefore, Web service can not be understudied unambiguously by computer system and it will influence the automatic discovery, comparison, composition and running. Semantic Web service combines the concept of semantic Web and the research of Web service. It utilizes the semantic ontology for Web service modeling. This technique makes the descriptions of different Web service actions such as service interface, service message, service architecture, service interaction more clear than ever. And with the help of semantic reasoning technique, it is possible to support many important processes such as automatic Web service discovery, comparison, composition, calling and monitoring.Faced to the fact that Web service composition technique will be the main trend of the distributed and parallel computing and Web service composition will involve more and more computers. It is important to provide an approach for automatically recommending Web service composition template with high efficiency to users by analyzing the similarity between the computing communication patterns of Web service composition. On the background of Internet, this dissertation makes a research work to Web service conceptual modeling techniques by proposing an application framework, corresponding model and approach in Web service composition conceptual modeling. On the background of enterprise ethernet, this dissertation makes a research work to the matching techniques of communication patterns of Web service composition by proposing an approach for matching communication patterns of Web service composition. The main contribution of this dissertation consisted by the 4 following parts:(1) It presents an ontology-based application framework for Web service conceptual modeling.Based on the features of Web service on Internet, this dissertation proposes an ontology-based Web service conceptual modeling application framework and illustrates the mechanism and architecture of the kernel component "Web service composition ontology center" of this application framework.(2) It presents a Web service composition conceptual modeling model (OWSCCM) and its corresponding modeling approach based on the 3-level views. This dissertation proposes a 3-level views based conceptual model---OWSCM (Ontology-based Web Service Composition Conceptual Modeling) which can support Web service composition conceptual modeling. This model which is the base to support iterative design style from top to bottom consists with 3 views:ontology view, service view, instance view. Clear architecture and easy to be understood by users are the merits of OWSCC.(3) It presents an approach for solving the computing communication pattern recognition by utilizing GCPM model. In the computing communication pattern of Web service composition, there are three main parameters:the temporal parameter, the spatial parameter and the volume parameter. By considering these three main parameters, this dissertation proposes an approach based on GCPM model for solving the computing communication pattern recognition.(4) It presents an approach for calculating the similarity between the computing communication patterns by utilizing the sub-graph isomorphism graph model.Based on the proposed GCPM model, this dissertation presents a maximum common sub-graph based approach for matching Web service communication patterns by calculating the correlation coefficient 6 in three main metrics and the similarity degreeεbetween the communication graphs of Web service communication patterns.
