Employment issues have always been the common problem among countries all over the world, which also influences the mass livelihood.Especially when it comes to youth employment, it has been concerned about human resource investment and the burden of each family.In China, the employment of college students has been a hot social topic in the passed years. Since the beginning of 21st century, when the great pressures on employment came to a beginning, different researchers has analyzed the reason of the pressured employment situation, such as the expanding of college students, the economy growth rate, foreign investment, industry structure adjusting, which are all researchers’focus. However, how did the problem of college graduates job search process come out? What factors could possibly influence one’s search behavior? What’s the current level of reservation wage? What the relationship between the job research and reservation wage? What factors affect the reservation wage level? Does reservation wage impact start wage? Does reservation wage have impact on job search duration? These issues need further analysis and interpretation. Meanwhile, after the analysis of job search process and reservation wage will concentrate more clearly on understanding the current employment situation and predicament.This study revolves around college graduates job search and reservation wage influential factors. Job search processes are unavoidable for college graduates during the graduation season, graduate job search process differs from which for ordinary labor force, and this paper emphasizes its characteristics and properties. With analysis the relationship between job search and reservation wage, this paper points out the job search process.This paper also analyzes the factors which affect the reservation wage of graduates, some of these factors are also applicable for common labor market, however, some are unique while applying on college graduates, and this paper analyzes the reason for the difference. The paper also proposes possible solutions for the depressed employment environment, job search and reservation wage. The main content and structure of the paper is as follows:The first chapter is introduction.This chapter gives an overview of the background and significance of the study, analyses the college enrollment, employment, employment rate,GDP growth, business climate index, unemployment rate and other indicators, which contributes in analyzing the social background where the Chinese colleges employment problem lies, especially in the economy and higher education enrollment background, and proposes the significance of studying college students’ job searching process and the value of reserving wage reaching. In addition, the chapter proposes the structure of the thesis as well as innovation and deficiencies.The second chapter is theories introduction and current research outcomes. With the analysis of the cost of search and intensity,this paper introduce the theory of job research.In accordance with different period, this paper also sorts reservation wage theories out from the job search theories, which follows a brief evaluation and summary of reservation wage theory.All of which provide references for the analysis of Chinese graduates job search behavior and reservation wage.In addition, the domestic literature summary concerning about the employment of college students and graduates reservation wage are followed.Chapter 3 analyzes the relationship between the job search and reservation wage, and also analyzes the properties and behavior characteristics of searching jobs in college graduates labor market. The research data summarizes the current situation when college graduates job search process, and analysis the influence of the job search impact on the reseration wage and the reservation wage impact on the job search.Chapter 4 bases on related literatures, theories and methods and analyzes the influential factor for reservation wage.Regression analysis from a number of major indicators of majors, residence, household wealth, student leaders, and party members and so on is also conducted. By analyzing these factors, this paper investigate the relationship between current Chinese college students employment job search and employment choice behavior.Chapter 5 provides possible suggestions which based on theoretical analysis and empirical test.With the aims of decreasing the cost of search and the process of job search and control the ordinal level of reservation wage,this paper mainly suggests that social security systems and labor market policies about college students’ employment must be improved actions and must be done to reduce information asymmetry, shorten job search period. At the same time, viable policies must conducted to reduce sex discrimination in employment. And this paper mainly proposed to improve the teaching quality of higher education to enhance students’ employment capability and search capabilities, which contributes in enhancing the abilities by which social employment services could benefits college students more and maintain suitable reservation wage by changing the view of employment, which all contributes for achieving the successful employment.Chapter 6 describes the mainly innovative works and problems need further research.The primary conclusions for this paper are:(1) There are distinct features during the process of searching jobs for college graduatesCollege graduates job seekers are obviously different from the normal labor force that they are still generally discriminated during the employment process, and they mainly search the jobs from the Internet media and campus-released. Meanwhile, state organs are no more the prime employment intentions but the institutions, private enterprises and state-owned businesses.The density of job-searching for college graduates is still great, but there are less interview chances and searching time for them.Half of college graduates do have determined organizations when they leave school, but they are not eager for searching jobs as for the reserved salary and a better opportunity.(2) The interrelationship between the job search and reservation wageThe cost of search impact on the reservation, when the reservation below 3500RMB, the influence is significance. While above the 3500RMB, the influcence is not significance. The search time impact a siginficance on the reservation wage, and the relationship is negnitive, the more long time of search the lower researvation.The reservation wage impact on the outcomes of search, especially aims at the start wage and search time. The higher reservation wage, the more opportunity of good job. The higher reservation wage, the longer search time, and in turn is the way.(3)The reservation wage during the job search process is affected by many factorsGender, party, education, school reputation, total family income, the number of relatives in section chief rank, the total cost for job finding, intended employment location, job search market average wage levels, etc.These 9 indicators clearly pass through the significant test which has a significant impact on reservation wages.Male college graduates’ reservation wages are higher than women college students;college graduates’party reservation wages are higher than non-Party members of college graduates.The higher educated, he or she is more likely to retain higher reservation wages.The more of one’s total household income, the more likely that his reservation wage would be high.Number of relatives in the division level cadres retains higher reservation wages. The more money spent during the job search process, the higher reservation wage that is retained.The higher the average wage of the destination cities, the higher reservation wage would be.While other indicators did not pass the significance test, only the impact was not significant in this study.Under the background of difficult employment of college graduates, job search behavior has certain particularities and complexities. During their job search duration, the reservation wage is an important factor, which could even be more influential towards the job search results. Thus, concerning about reservation wage and job search behaviors can look through some of the reasons behind the depressed employment of college graduate, we must work together to solve the employment problem by all levels of society.Compared with previous studies, this paper has the following characteristics:(1) To analysis the interrelationship between the job search and reservation wageIn the aspect of the impact of job search to the reservation, this paper analysis the the search cost and process of search time and the search intensity to the researvation. And the aspect of the impact of reservation to the job search,this paper analysisthe researvation to the start wage and the search time.these analysis also verify the the conclusion that the formal theories and also accord with reality.And also can excavate the the inter reseasons of the difficulty of college employment,and this also give us some enlightening significance.(2) To make a detail of the factors of reservation wageAll former researches have discuss the index on the gender,the family background, the grades etc and lack of the research on the information asymmetry,the labor discrimination,social security.This paper analysis and perfect on the index on individual characteristic,the human resource,the labor market segmentation,labor discrimination, personal preference, social capital,job service, search cost and search time etc.
