China is a unified multi-ethnic country, so ethnic solidarity is related to the political stability, national unity, social stability, common prosperity and development of various nationalities. It is not only a realistic urgent job to adhere to systematic, effective national unity education, but also a long-term strategic task. Ethnic universities are regular higher education institutions which are established for solving the ethnic problems within the country, cultivating national elites, and promoting national unity by the Communist Party and the Chinese government. Therefore, the researches on the ethnic unity education of the students who are studying at ethnic universities or colleges during the new era are the new demands for the changes in the international background as well as the demands for the development of the actual society of China.The research is on the national unity education of the ethnic university students, and this article is on the basis of documentation and research results related to the ethnic unity education as well as the field investigation of ethnic universities. Firstly, the text systematizes the fundamental experience of developing national unity education of the students who are studying in ethnic university and analyzes the characteristics of national unity education; Secondly, the research are conducted on problems and causes of the ethnic unity education by the meaning of thinking disadvantages which influenced national unity education achievement. Lastly, in the light of the current problems of national unity education in national colleges students, exploring the unity of the theory of education innovation, comprehensive analysis and scientific judgment have been made and some proposals are put forward for the effective implementation of national unity education in the new period.The first chapter is an introduction, which states the origin and the significance of the topic the national unity education, and presents research status at home and at abroad. The test illustrates the research methods and research ideas, besides the innovation point which paced the way for the future research. Theoretically speaking, the research significance is to enrich the theory achievements of national unity education, to expand the depth and breadth of college students’ national unity education study; to promote the interaction of college students’ national unity education and other disciplines development. Practically speaking, the meaning is to meet the international and domestic changes in the new situation, and also it is the need to solve the problem of the current national reality. Meanwhile the significance is to explore the national colleges and universities in the new period college students national unity education innovation mode, improving the efficiency of national unity education practice.The second chapter presents the theoretic foundation of this research. Firstly, we have the instructions, from the perspective of the definition of college students’ national unity education, respectively, to national and ethnic problems, national unity and connotation of national unity education. The study analyses the status and role of national unity education, and reflects on the importance of national unity education, that is to say, college students’ national unity education under the new situation is an important task of propaganda and ideological work in colleges and universities, which is also the foundation of enhancing comprehensive national strength to achieve the social harmony. National unity education which is embodied in the core function of national unity education is to provide powerful spiritual motivation for achieving the "China dream", to supply important guarantee for development and prosperity of various nationalities and unity of the motherland, to provide intellectual support for inheriting traditional culture, cultivating the excellent talents. Meanwhile, the basic guiding theory of national unity education and related disciplines theory reference are illustrated in this paper by the author. The national unity education,under the ideological and political education theory, the Marxist ethnic theory, the communist party of China national unity theory, the concept of scientific development theory of the communist party of China, the theory of core values, should also pay attention to the learning of diversity in unity of the Chinese nation in ethnology theory, cultural diffusion theory, national symbiosis theory.We should also use motivation theory of needs, attitude change theory in psychology for effective reference. In addition, we must use the management incentive theory for effective reference in order to deepen the theoretical foundation of the national unity education.The third chapter shows the development and basic experience of ethnic college students’ national unity education. First of all, the national college students’ development of national unity education process are summarized, besides generalizes the main characteristics of national unity education which are the times of education subjects,the universality of the education objects, the sustainability of education process, and the effect of education practice.Secondly, it summarizes seven basic experience of college students’ national unity education in ethnic universities,which is respectively based on the system construction, to promote the standardization of the national unity education; which serve the classroom education as the main manner, to adhere to education systemic of the unity; which serve campus culture construction as the support, to strengthen the permeability of the national unity education; which serve social practice as a platform to improve the effectiveness of national unity education; which serve the key education period of outstanding as main focus,to give prominence to national unity education pertinence; which serve network education as a window, to grasp the diversity of the national unity education; which serve national student cadre training as key point,to promote influence of national unity education.Chapter four is about the empirical study of national college students’ national unity education. This chapter focuses on the survey of current situation of college students’ national unity education, in addition, it probes into the contents and methods of research, the investigation and questionnaire survey samples of national colleges and universities, which summarizes the basic situation of college students’ national unity education. According to the needs of this study, we select a total of 15 national colleges and universities to carry out empirical research including 6 national colleges and universities which directly under control of the state ethnic affairs commission, such as Minzu University for China, South-Central University for Nationalities, Southwest University for Nationalities, Northwest University for Nationalities, Northern Nationalities University, Dalian Nationalities University and 9 local national colleges and universities, involving in Yunnan Minzu University, Guizhou Minzu University, Guangxi University for Nationalities, Hubei University for Nationalities, Sichuan University for Nationalities, Qinghai University for Nationalities, Inner Mongolia University for the Nationalities, Hohhot University for Nationalities, Xizang University for Nationalities.Overall, the national unity education for the ethnic college students has earned its achievements, as the majority of college students can recognize the reality that our country is a united multi-ethnic country and the importance of the national unity, they not only have a profound understanding of national unity, but also has the profound emotion and strong sense of national unity, besides they are willing to fight with ethnic separatists. Nevertheless there are still a small number of students who have cognitive deviation and insufficiency for national unity. Emotionally speaking, part of college students’sense of national identity need to improve, and also we should pay more attention to religion’s infiltration and influence for minority students, moreover we should encourage some college students’education enthusiasm for ethnic unity After finding out the causes of the problem, from the perspective of politicy, the national unity education has been challenged by the traditional changes and the development of the Internet. Moreover, complicated social environment takes the negative effect on unity education. From the perspective of school education, innovation is further needed in the ethnic unity education. In conclusion, the national unity education in ethnic colleges and universities are influenced and challenged by all of these problems above.Chapter five presents the solutions to improve college students’ national unity education in national colleges and universities. The author illustrates four aspects as following, in terms of the unity of the education content, education method, the path of the realization of the education, and education guarantee mechanism. First of all, we should enrich the specific content of the college students’ national unity education, such as we need to deepen the view of Marxism education, and attach great importance to the Marxist religion education, and strengthen the education of Chinese culture identity, we should develop socialist core values education and national identity education. Moreover, we must strengthen the education of legal system. Second, we should optimize the national unity education methods, as we should insist on the combination of theoretical education and practical education, and at the same time we should adhere to the combination of emotional education and rational education, the dominant education and recessive education, the combination of traditional education and Internet education, the combination of centralized education combined with decentralized education. Third, we should innovate the solution to realize the national unity education, besides we need to grasp the object characteristics of national unity education, highlight the education practice, focus on the essential characteristic of national unity education and put education into daily life. Moreover, we should expand the radiation function of national unity education, and pay more attention to the socialization of education. Finally, we should perfect safeguard mechanism of the national unity education. The unity of the nationalities education which not only need the colleges to strengthen their organization, clear responsibility, adjust measures to local conditions, scientific planning, build a solid organizational guarantee, but also needs to develop the scientific management and implementation plan, to establish a standardized assessment and incentive mechanism, establish and improve the system guarantee. Moreover, it needs to establish a good quality, reasonable structure of education team, build the system of professional, scientific and efficient training mechanism, so as to form a powerful talent guarantee; besides, we need to intensify publicity and create a good atmosphere, innovation carrier, construct platform for education, and build good environment.
