As the report of the 18 th National Congress of the CPC points out, “We must adhere to the goal of advancing socialist culture, deepen our awareness of and confidence in Chinese culture, and strive to meet the grand goal of developing a strong socialist culture in China.†Ideological and political education in colleges and universities is built upon the sinicization and modernization of Marxism based on Chinese culture and spirit. Strengthening ideological and political education is the general requirement of the historical background of contemporary times that we strive to construct socialist culture with Chinese characteristics and promote soft power of Chinese culture. Especially at the crucial period of comprehensively deepening the reform, we are faced with varied forms of attacking Marxism. Current social ethos also greatly interfere with Chinese culture and marginalize ideological and political education, which affect university students’ socialist consciousness and thoughts, and cultivation of their becoming qualified participants of and reliable successors to the socialist cause. As President Xi Jinping’s speech at the 23 rd conference of party building in higher education, colleges and universities undertake the responsibilities of studying, researching and propagandizing Marxism, and fostering builders and successors of socialist enterprise with Chinese characteristics. On January 9 in 2015, the Central Committee of the CPC issued On Further Strengthening and Improving Propaganda and Ideological Work in Colleges and Universities under the New Circumstances. All of those reflect the practical significance of deepening research on ideological and political education in colleges and universities.This dissertation puts emphasis on the inherent regularity of ideological education and Chinese culture and explores around the intrinsic spirit and basic logic of awareness of Chinese culture. Putting emphasis on the culture awareness is to subjectively, purposively and selectively reveal the intrinsic relationship, interaction and restriction between concepts, knowledge, thoughts and paradigms and social culture. The author takes culture awareness as the logical framework to solve the problems faced by ideological and political education in current social and cultural background; By grasping the essence of ideology of Chinese culture, try to maintain its consistency with socialist ideology guided by Marxism, its acceptance of achievements of other civilizations, its accordance with social innovation and its inclusiveness of modern culture. This dissertation includes six chapters. The first is research on the significance and theoretical logic of consciousness of Chinese culture. The second is research on the rationality of Chinese culture in ideological and political education in colleges and universities. The third is research on context of Chinese culture in ideological and political education in colleges and universities. The fourth is research on our awareness of Marxism in ideological and political education in colleges and universities. The fifth is research on the daily culture setting in ideological and political education in colleges and universities. The last is cross-cultural comparative study on ideological and political education in colleges and universities. The author points out in this dissertation that this rational consciousness contributes to the organic coordination among cultural richness in thoughts, cultural norm in academics and cultural science in knowledge so that ideological and political education in colleges and universities could consciously meet the challenge of the new contents of Chinese culture in contemporary times represented by China’s Road, Chinese Characteristics and Chinese Dream. Besides, the author also emphasizes that by deeply reflecting upon culture especially the modern culture with both Chinese spirit and global connotation, it is necessary to consciously forge and compact the feature language of ideological and political education, which could effectively solve the varied kinds of ideological confusion university students face, help them acquire positive and steady values, and realize the historical task of fostering qualified participants of and reliable successors to the socialist cause. |
