| Physics textbook as a core curriculum text in school education is the main dependence and foundation for physics instruction activities, which is one of the important carriers and propagation mediums of social culture as well. In recent years more and more scholars pay attention on physics textbooks. But that relatively little is known about the ideology of physics textbook. Not only physics textbook plays a role of transmitter of science fact but also it is impressed by social cultures and values. Ideologies of physics textbook are so complicated that we cannot ignore or miss the ideology perspective on physics textbook studies. The reason is why this dissertation focuses on ideology of physics textbook. And this dissertation aims at deepening the knowledge of the essential property of physics textbook and giving services to practices related to physics textbook.The dissertation starts from analyzing on “physicsâ€, “textbookâ€, “ideology†and other fundamental concepts, by clarifying the basic content and related meaning to set a logic basic for the whole research. And then the author focuses on researching the sociological theory, the sociology of education theory and the philosophy of science to establish contact between ideology and knowledge, education, science, which is used to explain the possibility of the ideology of physics textbook researches. Meanwhile, it is also provide a solid and reliable foundation for the following analysis. The main parts of the research are the Theoretical Interpretation, the Historical Research, the Text Analyze and the Ideal Confirmation section.The Theory Interpretation section conducts a systematic interpretation from the ideological view on physics textbook. The physics textbook is established by social culture and it is an enlightenment on personal mind. The process that students contacting the physics textbooks is also the process that they are nurtured. Actually, the ideologies have effects mainly by formulating of physics curriculum standards, by writing and validation of physics textbook and many other channels, they primarily make differences by confirming, shielding and rhetorical mode on physics textbooks. In this case, the written language, imaging systems and structural arrangements in physics textbooks are all implied by certain ideologies. Overall, ideologies of physics textbooks behave in three basic types that are bundle, permeate and nihility. In any actual physics textbook these three types go with or intertwined usually.According to the opinions and methods obtained in the above, the Historical Research section reviews the whole ideology of middle school physics textbooks in the late Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China and the founding of new China. In this process, it is found that the concrete state of physics textbooks were changing invariably accompanied with the change of ideology, and as official ideology intervening on physics textbook increasing, the effects of physics textbooks influenced by the main ideology are more and more serious. Over a hundred years, people expect the value of physics textbook from the salvation turning to the common development of scientific and technological progress of human and society. Overall, the physics textbook for each period are associated with prevailing ideological background has a certain affinity relationships. The various stages of physics textbook have demonstrated the ideological characteristics which are belonging to their era.In Historical Inspection section we got an overall knowledge on ideology of middle school physics textbook. In the next section——Text Analysis section, the author selects a set of middle school physics textbook to carry out a detailed analyze. The science, gender, education perspectives are used to describe the characteristics of scientific ideology, gender ideology, educational ideology in physics textbooks. It is found that ideologies of physics textbook express and present primarily in an indirect way. There is both positive and negative ideology in physics textbooks. It might also be noted that, the actual ideologies which exist in the textbooks and the ones advocated are inconsistent sometimes. Through the text analysis, we get a more vivid understanding on the characteristics of ideologies of physics textbook.The last section——Ideal Confirmation section describes the ideal image of physics textbook from an ideological view. Ideology is the basic function of social existence. Physics textbook is not exist in school but in society. Physics textbook should confront ideology effects actively as well as express ideology positively. The author also find that the ideology of physics textbook has a dual dimension, the physics textbooks heritage and maintenance ideologies, at the same time they create and change ideologies. That is why the perspective of ideology should be introduced in compiling and designing physics textbook, and multiple subjects should participate in to achieve a higher quality physics textbook.Above the main sections, the finally conclusions drew are: Physics textbooks have a profound ideology attribution; Physics textbook does not always reflect official ideology; Ideologies of physics textbook always conceal themselves; there may exist deviation on ideologies of physics textbook; and ideologies of physics textbook have a widespread impact. Accordingly, the study proposes the following recommendations: Analyzing physics textbooks from ideological perspective to deepen physics textbooks study; maintaining highly sensitive to ideology to improve the quality of physics textbook compile; mining the ideology embedded in the textbook to use the physics textbooks critically. |
