The subject investigated in this paper is the construction of undergraduatecurriculum system for innovative engineering education. In the systemic study on thesubject, this paper, from three aspects–the objects of undergraduate curriculumsystem for innovative engineering education, curriculum selection, as well asorganization, evaluation, and optimization, adopts the theories of Education andSystems Engineering, and employs both qualitative and quantitative approaches.First of all, based on the analysis of the situation of both domestic andinternational reform and development in higher engineering education, this paperpresents the preliminary scheme for constructing a new curriculum system for higherengineering education. This paper, subsequently, introduces the fundamentalprinciples and methods determined by the cultivation objects. Integrating stakeholderanalysis in engineering education and the study on accreditation standards of foreignengineering education, this paper proposes the Engineering Innovation–QualityAbility and Knowledge Compendium (EI-QAKC). This paper employsMulti-dimensional Scaling (MDS) and expert-consulting method to determine theelements of the compendium, and it also conducts importance analysis throughquestionnaire, contrasting the different views in the companies’ and universities’compendium concerning the importance of the elements.Secondly, this paper introduces curriculum selection principles and process, aswell as the dimension and principles of curriculum organization. Based on systemsengineering theories, this paper puts forward the Hall three-dimension structure modelfor undergraduate curriculum system as well as visualization design andadministrative methods based on the2D sectional drawing of the model. This paperalso applies Concurrent Engineering (CE) theory in the analysis of undergraduatecurriculum system for innovative engineering education, and puts forward theintegrative organizing method of higher engineering education curriculum. Thismethod is used in CE based integrative curriculum frame of engineering education(CE-ICFEE).Finally, this paper talks about the connotation and the primary process ofcurriculum system evaluation. Based on cybernetics, this paper proposes theOptimization Control Model of Engineering Education Curriculum (OCM-EEC), andestablishes the control mechanism, with three-level feedback and two control points,for engineering education curriculum optimization. Based on examples, this paperoptimizes the curriculum system through the analysis of interaction of curriculumsystem and education objects, and proposes curriculum selection priority index(CSPI), index P which denotes carrying the elements into effect, index R whichdesignates the time sequence of curriculum. Based on the analysis of these indices,and combined with CE-ICFEE, this paper optimizes the examples, and makes thedetailed optimization plan and proposal.
