The development and implementation of geography curriculum standards has become a key element of geography curriculum reform since the 1990s.Research and practice have shown that the quality of the geography curriculum standards have a major impact on the expected results of geography curriculum reform .In the 21st century, the social development has many new requirements to the geography curriculum, which requires the geography standards should have new development. Currently, the major countries in the world is revising their geography standards, China is also true. Comparison of the geography curriculum standards of different countries can establish the appropriate reference and make up the shortcomings and inadequacies exist in some of our geography curriculum standards. Therefore, the systemic studying and comparing geography curriculum standards in the world has important theoretical and practical value in geographical teaching and research area.Specifically, three parts comprises this paper: introduction, body and conclusion.The introductory analysis the research background of this paper from three aspects: the important value of the quality of the current geography curriculum standards; the situation of the implementation and research of the geography curriculum standards in the world. On the basis of the studies, proposed the theoretical and practical significance, the research questions and objectives, and the research methods and technical route of this paper.The first chapter of this paper is“the study of the affecting dimension of geography and geography courses”. This part focused on the body of the geography curriculum standards, the affecting dimension of geography and geography courses in the 21st century, and several other aspects of the study. These works established the starting point of the study of this paper.The second chapter is“the international comparative study of geography curriculum goals and course objectives”.Including the structure of school geography curriculum objectives; the content express of geography curriculum objectives; the development and reform of secondary school geography curriculum objectives; the characteristics and rends of secondary school geography curriculum objectives.Chapter III,“the comparison study of secondary school geography curriculum content”. Including the structure secondary school geography curriculum content and the structure of foreign secondary school geography curriculum content, the basic content foreign secondary school geography curriculum content and the scope and sequence foreign secondary school geography curriculum content.Chapter IV,“the comparison study of secondary school geography curriculum evaluation criteria”.It is mainly about the assessment and evaluation of geography learning achievement.Finally,“conclusions and outlook”.This part draws conclusion of this paper .In addition, the research on this topic that has vision, and pointed out that this study’s limitations.
