| The founding of the Chinese Communist Party is based on the Marxism Theory.As an important component of Marxism Theory, the Social Class and Stratum Theoryhas become the center of concern of the first generation leaders of ChineseCommunist Party. With the Social Class Theory, the first generation leaders haveanalyzed the situation of China and won the ultimate victory of the New DemocraticRevolution and Socialist Social Transformation. The Theory is consistently applied intoday’s China to guide socialist construction. This dissertation consists of five parts.The first part elaborates on the historical background against which the firstgeneration leaders of the Chinese Communist Party have analyzed the society. Socialclass and stratum issue in a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society is very complicated;and it is of vital importance to discern social classes. It is from Marx, Engels, Lenin,Stalin and international discussions that the Chinese Communist Party has drawnresources to form its own theory.The second part introduces the analysis of Social Class Theory from theestablishment of the Chinese Communist Party to early period of the Land Revolution.Cheng Duxiu has made mistakes with regard to the social class issue and stratumissue after the second national congress of the Chinese Communist Party. MaoZedong corrected the mistakes during the fourth meeting of the Chinese CommunistParty. Before the Land Revolution, mistakes have been rectified in the sixth nationalcongress and the theory has evolved to a mature form.The third part discusses the Theory in the later period of the Land Revolutionand prior to the founding of People’s Republic of China. During the later period of theLand Revolution, the central committees of the Party and Mao Zedong have givensystematic analysis to the changes occurred in the social class construction. MaoZedong has given further analysis to social classes and stratum in Anti-Japanese Warand Civil War.The fourth part presents the analysis on social classes from the founding ofPeople’s Republic of China to the Culture Revolution. Party leaders have madecorrect analysis on the social classes and stratum after the socialist transformation.The eighth national congress of Chinese Communist Party pointed out the changes insocial classes and stratum, but Mao Zedong made a severe mistake andoveremphasized the conflict among different social classes.The fifth part gives evaluation to the analysis made by the first generation partyleaders. Reasons of making mistakes have been found out. Accurate analysis on socialclasses and stratum in China is an important development of Marxism and Leninism.This part also sums up the lessons and experiences learnt from the analysis on socialclasses in China. |
