Justice is a classical topic which is quite controversial in the history of philosophy. Agnes Heller’s theory of justice, who is the representative figure of New Marxism in East Europe and the member of Budapest School, is the landmark achievement, which elucidates and develops Marxist justice view in combination with the social situation of capitalism and socialism, under the dual context of Marxist philosophy and modern western philosophy. By interpreting the text of this work, we are able to clarify the philosophical vision of western theory of justice, understand Marx’s theory of justice thoroughly and construct the harmonious society in contemporary China. It is asserted in this paper that justice theory of Heller achieves the flyback from macro view to microcosmic view, from abstract thinking to reality. Heller analyzed the concept of dynamic justice in modern society and the socio-political concept of justice, in order to explain that as social replacement going the above two concepts are going to replace the concept of static justice which was absolutized in pre-modern times and the ethico-concept of justice which had the paradox of its own. Heller argued that all claims to justice are rooted in certain values other than justice itself—namely, in ‘freedom’ and ‘life’. The justice she is aim to construct is inner human beings and roots in the negative justice of human daily life. Thus Heller viewed the good life as the goal beyond justice.Heller’s justice theory also has the enlightening significance for China to build the harmonious society. A harmonious society should be a society beyond justice, in which the diversification of the mode of life enables everyone to choose the good life suitable to itself. The good life is able to achieve the social harmony. Such is a real harmonious society, in which, as the good life shows, everyone bears with the unjust but not carry out the unjust, develop its gift into ability, connect with others by emotions.
