In this dissertation, I attempt to clarify the method and the characteristics of Jizang’s exegetics, who was one of the most important Buddhist scholars between 6th and 7th century of China, based on analyzing the existing tests in "Dazengzhang" and "(?) xuzang". Exegetics,which born in "Dongjing dynasty " and still lives in modern china, is a key part of the tradition of the Sinicized Buddhism. Also, the process of the development of the exegetics of Buddhism in China, is a critical events in the process of the Sinification of Buddhism. And in this story, it is remarkable that the interaction of the Confucianism and the Buddhism. Many excellent Buddhist scholars and Buddhist writings emerged in this era. And Jizang and his works was typical. So the research on Jizang’s exegesis, not only can help us to gain a deeper understanding of his own thought, if placed it in the academic history of ancient China context, this study will also help us further clarify the development of China academic. Here, I use the way to study the classic commentaries of Qing scholars, and strive to closely rely on in the texts, make no words don’t have its provenance and seek the facts of Jizang’s exegetic.There are seven parts in the dissertation. The first part is the introduction. In this part, I discuss the academic characteristics of Jizang’s, than,depict the purpose and the structure of this research. The second part is a study of history on the relationship between the lecture and exegetics in Jizang’s time. In that era, most of the texts of classic commentaries were formed on the basis of lecture notes. So it is useful for us to understand the situation of the monks’ lecture. The third part is a study of philosophy discussing the most fundamental Buddhist view of Jizang’s, in order to understand his exegetic deeply. The fourth part, as the hermeneutic research, accounts Jizang’s way to discuss the meaning of classic text. The fifth part is a literature research, studying Jizang’s there important exegetic works to make his hermeneutics concretion. The sixth part is the methodology research, recount Jizang’s method of interpreting the words and sentences in the classic text. The last part includes two appendices, which are the Structure charts of Jizang’s Jinminxunlun and his commentaries on Vimalakirtinirdesa.
