His Shanhaijing Exegetics has 18 volumes, and includs one volume of Pictures Zan and one volume of Corrections. It is written in the basis of the Shanhaijing Extensive Comments of Wu renchen and the Shanhaijing New Corrections of Biyuan. Hao absorbs many useful point of views from them. His Shanhaijing Exegetics is a quite good version in all the version of the study of Shanhaijing in the past dynasties. It appeared in the heyday of the traditional academics——Qianjia Period, so it can represent the achievements of this period and the characteristics of academic research. Currently, there is growing emphasis on the collation and study about Shanhaijing, but there is no specific book on Shanhaijing Exegetics still. Therefore, the systematic study of Shanhaijing Exegetics is necessary. This paper started from the following aspects: describe the life of Hao Yixing and the writing background of Shanhaijing Exegetics; explain the ways of exegetical studies and collation practice in it summarize the achievements of Shanhaijing Exegetics in the area of exegetical studies, including the research in the field of ancient geography, etc..
