Jiangsu Five Modes of Ancient Chinese Music refer to the five Qupai in folk art form as a carrier, that is,[Ruan ping]、[Nan diao]、[Die luo]、[Li diao]、[Nan diao]、[Po yang]。Mode of Ancient Chinese Music is folk common saying without real meaning. As the legacy of Nan qu、Bei qu and music in Ming and Qing dynasty, these Qupai are still popular in folk music with decorative elegancy of writing and profound influence, regarded as the essence of folk art form.Five Modes of Ancient Chinese Music is most characterized by the playing form and lyrical style of Single Qupai, that is to say, by contrast of the characteristics of talking and singing stories of ordinary Qupai, the Five better keep the original characteristics of music in Ming and Qing dynasty, can be regarded as the living fussils in the music of that sort.This paper makes extensive and meticulous research on the five Qupai. At first, the author makes deep research on their origins, characteristics and developing patterns; Then, the author makes selective analysis on the reason of whole, pointing out that similar melody is an important factor of its developing process; In the end, the author explains its aesthetic and cultural characteristics to manifest the regional feature by the analysis and research of Jiangsu Five Modes of Ancient Chinese Music.
