Form The Textual Intertextuality

This dissertation is to study intertextuality form of a text in Modern Chinese. It follows the principle of combining form and meaning, which explores the linguisticalization of intertexuality of the literary criticism, analyzes the interaction mechanism of discourse text, and specifically studies the language markers and the manifestations of discourse intertextuality.Chapter one is the introduction part of the full dissertation. In this part, we give a systematic introduction of the phenomena and the historical background of the research of discourse, and through this carding, we choose the relationship between the texts as our object of study. Besides, we have a brief overview of the basic situation, the theoretical background and the research opportunity of the discourse intertextuality study.Chapter two discusses the philosophical origin and its linguistic adaption of intertexuality. It finds that the thought of intertexuality can be traced back to F. de Saussure’s concept associative relationship of sings and M. M. Bakhtin’s dialog theory. After carding the flows and changes of intertexuality in the regime of literal criticism, this dissertation adapts this concept to linguistic study and unveil its linguistic core abiding by the principle of combining the form and the meaning. Then we divided intertexuality into associative and formal ones accordingly, and in which, formal intertextuality is of most value to discovering the compositional discipline of text and the modal of text relations.Chapter three deals with the mechanism and language representation of discourse intertextualtity. At the first part, it provides definitions of some basic concepts such as intertexuality, text, main-text, inter-text, intertextuality marker, intertextuality form, etc. Then it analyses the interactive mechanism and adjustment mechanism between texts in discourse, basic characteristics and types of text interaction, and language forms of the discourse intertextuality. And it points out that discourse is the field of texts’interaction while discourse structure is the interactive mode of the text.Chapter four focuses on the marking forms of discourse intertextuality. It discusses six kinds of marking forms:demonstratives, referential words, reported speech, punctuation marks, discourse markers and function marking index. And discourse markers falls into psychological markers, interactive markers and procedural markers, and in which none but the procedural markers have intertexuality and functions of adjusting discurse, arranging text, guiding text interpretation and indicating textual relation.Chapter five gives a specific account of the three forms of discourse intertextuality:the referential intertextuality, the mosaic intertextuality and the external intertextuality. Based on this, we also give a further description of their inferior types respectively. According to the differences of the language reference, the referential intertextuality can be divided into the inner-domain referential intertextuality and the cross-domain referential intertextuality. The mosaic intertextuality has two inferior types:the parallel type and the procedural type. As for the external intertextuality, it has the intentional external intertextuality and the procedural external intertextuality as its inferior types.Chapter six is the conlusion.
