The TCM Experience Of Liu Yongnian In Hematology Disease And Clinical Research Of Liangxuesanxue Therapy On Immune Thrombocytopenia

The experience and thoughts of national TCM doctor Liu Yongnian is studied in this research. He has many years of medical experience. His academic thoughts are mainly from Canon of Internal Medicine, Treatise on Febrile Disease Caused by Cold, Method of Epidemic Disease, and Jinling Medical Sect. His most important mentor is Dr. Fu Zonghan. Prof. Liu has a special theory in treating stubborn diseases of internal medicine. When treating stubborn diseases, disease differentiation should be combined with syndrome differentiation. Western medicine technique can be utilized for syndrome differentiation and disease differentiation to find kernel TCM pathogenesis. Syndrome differentiation can be based on syndrome that would appear. Constitution should be considered in treatment. If the stubborn disease is caused by psychological pathogen, it can be treated by smoothing the liver and relieve Qi stagnation. When treating hematological diseases, TCM disease differentiation should be considered. Tonifying therapy should be used without stagnating Qi. Stop bleeding therapy should be used without causing the blood stasis.Hematological disease should be treated according to different stage of urgent or permanent. When treating iron deficiency anemia (IDA), the method of increase the resource and stop the hemorrhage can be used. The regimen should be based on the theory of "have material or not have material," and the therapy of tonifying spleen and stomach is used more frequently. When treating aplastic anemia (AA), consumption of vital essence in the body is the main pathogenesis. The therapy of tonifying kidney and tonifying spleen and stomach should be balanced. When treating leucopenia, the therapy of tonifying spleen and kidney therapy is used. The therapy of clearing away heat and toxic material and removing blood stasis can also increase white blood cell. When treating allergic purpura(AP), wind pathogen is important. Blood stasis in minute collateral is the main pathologic feature. Prof. Liu has special feature in herbal pharmacy of AP. When treating immune thrombocytopenia (FTP), he thinks blood stasis and heat is the kernel pathegenesis, and uses Liangxuesanxue method to treat it. He makes a special regimen for ITP named Shuitianshengban regimen according to that method.Object:To prove the effectiveness and safety of Shuitianshengban regimen in ITP and try to find the mechanism of this therapy.Methods:In clinical research,60 patients of ITP are divided into 2 groups:experiment group and control group. Both groups are treated by mainly western medicine support therapy, and experiment group is treated additionally by oral Shuitianshengban regimen for 28 days. The number of PLT, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) symptom as purpura, bleeding, fever, polydipsia, pain in lumber and joint, urine bleeding and constipation are observed to evaluate therapy effect. WBC, Hb, Liver and kidney function are observed to evaluate drug safety. Whole blood and Plasma viscosity are observed to evaluate the mechanism.Result:After therapy the number of PLT is significantly improved and has significantly better effect in experiment group compared to control group, WBC, Hb, liver and kidney function are not changed after therapy.Conclusion:Shuitianshengban regimen can improve the PLT number in ITP patient, relieve the TCM symptom. In conclusion:According to theoretical and clinical research, chief physician Liu Yongnian has a special theory in the TCM treatment of hematology disease. Shuitianshengban regimen which invented by him is effective and safe in treating ITP.
