Attention deficit hyperkinetic disorder (ADHD), also called hyperkinetic disorder, is a common childhood disease. It is a disease which involved behavior disorder belongs to mental disease. Children who suffered this disease often behaved in ways such as:difficulties in paying attention, short attention to certain things, hyperactivity and accompanied with so much mental handicaps such as conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, mood disorder and learning disorder. At present, the treatment of ADHD is mainly focused on oral-taken medicine and psychological intervention, behavioral exercise. However oral medicine would affect the spirit and physical body of the children, leading to no appetite to food or showed a poor mental state. Other intervention and exercise both had drawbacks so that clinical worker had to seek a more effective and safer way of treatment. While more and more acupuncture workers obtained good reputation for using different ways acupuncture methods. Recently, with deeper study, the value of acupuncture in treating ADHD had been highly thought by more and more researchers.Objecti ves:With the randomized controlled trial method, this thesis was designed to observe the clinical effective differences between the Fang’s scalp acupuncture with oral taken western medicine and simple oral taken western medicine on treating attention deficit hyperkinetic disorder. Through the study, we tried to observe the degree of the improvement for the children of ADHD and the clinical differences between the different pattern of syndromes in ADHD, to analysis the possible mechanism of action on how Fang’s scalp acupuncture would have clinical effective. Methods:In this study, we chose 60 children who suffered ADHD from the Hong Kong Clinical Biomechanics Centre LTD. Total 60 patients were divided into different groups of patterns syndrome according to their tongue and pulse conditions, one was the treated group and the other was the control group, both group 30 cases. The treated group was given the treatment of Fang’s scalp acupuncture and the oral taken western medicine of Ritalin while the control group was given the simple oral taken of western medicine Ritalin. All the acupuncture was carried out once everyday and lasted for five days then rest for Saturday and Sunday. Three-month treatment was one course and in our research the treatment was lasted for two courses. Conners Scale was investigated for the parents of the ADHD children before the trial, one course and two courses after the treatment to be as the observational index for the research. At the same time, according to the clinical efficacy a criterion from the book of< The latest domestic and foreign disease diagnostic criteria > was used to evaluate the research effect. Results:All the base materials of the subjects in the three groups refer to this study had no statistical meaning on the average age, average course of disease, gender and as well as the score of the scale of Conners. This showed that the subjects in this study could be compared in statistics and could be included in the research. After one course treatment, the scale of Conners was evaluated again between the two groups and the group itself. According to the statistical analysis, the scores of the two groups were both decreased on the evaluation of the scale of Conners and they had statistical meaning because their P score was below 0.01. This was not only between the comparisons of the two groups but also in the comparison of the treated and control group itself. This condition showed that the patients in the treated group recovered better than those who in the control group. The result meant that the treatment of Fang’s scalp acupuncture together with the oral taken western medicine of Ritalin could improve the syndrome of the ADHD children and was better than the simple oral taken western medicine of Ritalin. After two courses treatment, the scale of Conners was evaluated again between the two groups and the group itself. The result meant that the treatment of Fang’s scalp acupuncture together with the oral taken western medicine of Ritalin could improve the syndrome of the ADHD children and was better than the simple oral taken western medicine of Ritalin. On the comparison of the total effective rate, the effect of the treated group also behaved better than that of the control group because the total effective rate of the treated group was 86.67% higher than 66.67% of the control group. All the data showed that the treatment of Fang’s scalp acupuncture together with the oral taken western medicine of Ritalin was better than the simple oral taken western medicine of Ritalin. After one course and two courses of the research, SNAP-IV scale and CRT test were again compared between the treated and the control group. It was showed that the treatment of Fang’s scalp acupuncture and the oral taken western medicine of Ritalin were better than that of simple oral taken of western medicine of Ritalin because all the P score were below 0.05. It was suggested that the symptoms of the ADHD children would be improved after the treatment of Fang’s scalp acupuncture and the oral taken western medicine of Ritalin were.Conelusion:According to the data from the research, we could obviously know that the clinical effect of the treated group was better than that of the control group. The treatment of Fang’s scalp acupuncture together with the oral taken western medicine of Ritalin could improve the clinical symptom of the ADHD children; urge them to go back to the normal daily life and learning life. The manipulation of Fang’s scalp acupuncture was easy and the safety was guaranteed so that the treatment should be applied in the project of the ADHD.
