Objective:To explore and investigate the clinical efficacy of combination of acupuncture with proprietary Chinese traditional medicine in treating children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and its underlying theory and principle.Method:51cases of children with ADHD were randomly distributed into categories of prioprietary traditional Chinese medicine group, acupuncture group, and combination of acupuncture with prioprietary traditional Chinese medicine group to carry out the related treatment. The clinical efficacy is concluded based on3months treatment duration to observe the ADHD children’s condition of before and after treatment. The clinical observation and statistic analysis are carried out according to international Cornell’s rating scale based on ADHD childrean’s behavior, as well as the Electro Scan Graph (ESG) diagnostic system to observe the changes of cerebral fluid among the children.Result:After the treatment of proprietary Chinese traditional medicine, acupuncture, and the combination of former two, the three groups of ADHD children were diagnosed based on international Cornell’s rating scale and the Electro Scan Graph (ESG) diagnostic system. Statistic result based on international Cornell’s rating scale shows that the total efficiency of these three groups are83%,71%and94%, respectively. On the other hand, the statistic result based on ESG system shows that the total efficiency of these three groups are82%,65%and100%, respectively. This results shows that these treatments have a significant difference (p<0.001), and also prove that the treatment using traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, and combination of them are effective treatments to treat the ADHD disease which shows the significant deduction of the symptoms after the treatment. In addition to that, the diagnostic result of ESG system is also compared with the conventional Cornell’s rating scale to compare the diagnostic accuracy. The results show that ESG system accuracy is77%,90%and100%, respective for aforementioned three groups of ADHD children. This proves that the ESG system can also be used as one of the reliable diagnostic tool to diagnose the ADHD children. Conclusion:Trational Chinese medicine, acupuncture, and combination of former two are effective treatments of ADHD children. Moreover, the combination of traditional Chinese medicine and the acupuncture shows an excellent result compare to the other two. In addition, the ESG system can also be used as a complementory tool of conventional psychological questionnaire in diagnosing ADHD children to provide the reliable evaluation result.
