Cervical spondylotic radiculopathy (CSR) is due to cervical disc degeneration, out standing, segmental instability, hyperostosis or osteophyte formation etc, by compressing or irritating the nerve root from the spinal canal or intervertebral foramen, which is the highest incidence type of cervical disease.Cervical spondylotic radiculopathy is a chronic injury that likely occurs in 40 to 60 years of age, especially in some special populations such as scholars, teachers, technicians, clerks, accounting and IT sector because of using computer for a long time when cervical spine is fixed. Besides, the age of onset of the disease tends to be younger and most of them usually work intensively and long hours without enough rest and exercise.ObjectiveTo compare the efficacy between the traditional acupuncture (Qi ci acupuncture) and electro-acupuncture treatment of Cervical Radicular Disease (CSR).MethodsFrom my long-tem clinical experiences, the application of traditional Qi ci acupuncture methods combined with Cervical Jia ji acupoints can significantly improve the symptoms and immediately alleviate the pain of patients. Therefore "application of Qi ci acupuncture methods with electric in the treatment of Cervical Radicular Disease (CSR)" has been selected as the topic through collecting the data of "Clinical symptoms and functional assessment scale" and "simplified McGiLL pain scale" and "Two groups of CGRP content in peripheral blood" and comparing the result of before and after treatment. Evaluation of statistical analysis method, the mechanism of Qi ci acupuncture methods with electric in the treatment of Cervical Radicular Disease (CSR) has been studied in order to provide more clinical evidence.100 cases of Cervical Radicular Disease patients are selected for the study, including 42 males and 58 females, are randomly divided into two groups, the treatment group and the control group. Qi ci Jiaji acupuncture with electric is the treatment group and the electro-acupuncture is the control group; alternative days treatment will be arranged for analysis after 3 courses,3 times/week,4 weeks for a course of treatment.Results1. The comparison of two groups of patients before and after treatment of clinical symptoms and signs integral:Comparing the groups, the t test, (P <0.05), and the difference is significant. Treatment group of clinical symptoms and the improvement of the degree of integration are more significant than the control group.2. Two groups of patients before and after treatment of pain index (PRI), visual analog pain score (VAS), relatively pain intensity (PPI):The comparison (P <0.05), by statistical analysis, both groups have significantly differences with statistically significant, can effectively reduce patients with cervical radiculopathy pain index, provided that the treatment group is better than the control group regarding the degree of improvement in pain. Comparison between groups pain index (PRI) (P<0.05), there are significant differences.3. Two groups of before and after treatment of CGRP content in peripheral blood, the two groups after three courses of treatment were significantly lower values, the t test, Comparison between the group and the group, (P<0.05), showing the two groups before and after treatment CGRP content. There were significant differences in decline, Qi ci acupuncture methods with electric group made CGRP levels in plasma Content decreased more significantly, showed that Qi ci acupuncture methods with electric in the treatment of Cervical Radicular Disease (CSR) is better.4. Comparison of the two groups, the treatment group, there are 4 invalid cases, effective in 12 cases, significantly effective in 23 cases and 9 cases recovered, which is 65.0% cure rate, the total efficiency of 89.70%. For the control group, there are 5 invalid cases, effective in 21 cases, significantly effective in 14 cases and 7 cases of recovery, which is 46.0% cure rate, the total effective rate of 86.80%. After statistical analysis, the cure-markedly effective rate (P<0.05) is significant; the total effective rate (P> 0.05) is not statistically significant. Treatment group is better rate than the control group.ConclusionCervical Jia ji acupoints with Qi ci methods with electric and electro-acupuncture are effective methods of treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy. The treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy by Cervical Jia ji acupoints with Qi ci methods with electric can promptly reduce the pain and plasma levels of CGRP.
