Objective: Study the effect of Fangjihuangqitang on the treatment of hyperlipidemia patient. Research the effect of kampo recipe Fangjihuangqitang on the progression of hyperlipidemia induced by high-cholesterol diet in rats.Methods:Clinical verifications were carried out to study the effect of Fangjihuangqitang on the treatment of hyperlipidemia patient.Hyperlipidemia were induced by high cholesterol diet in male Wistar rats for 6 and 12 weeks. Fangjihuangqitang, Dachaihutang, Huanglianjiedutang, Fangji, Huangqi and ezetimibe were added into the high-cholesterol diet, respectively. After 6 and 12 weeks, body and liver weights, blood chemistry, cholesterol concentrations, fat-related and inflammatory-related factors were examined.Results:Clinical study showed that Fangjihaungqitang can alleviate hyperlipidemia process. High-cholesterol diet can lead to a disorder of body and liver weights, blood chemistry and cholesterol concentrations. Kampo recipe Fangjihuangqitang can improve the disordered condition. Elisa expressions of ICAM-1 and RBP4 in serum were increased in the high cholesterol diet group. With the treatment of kampo recipe Fangjihuangqitang, it can be improved. In the histological examination of liver and adipose tissues, we can observe a significant improvement after treatment. Immunostaining expression of ICAM-1 in aorta can be improved by kampo recipe Fangjihuangqitang. The mRNA expression of RBP4, HFABP, CFABP, MCP1, CCR2 in adipose tissue, AMPK and NF-κB in liver tissue were decreased by kampo recipe Fangjihuangqitang.Conclusion: Fangjihuangqitang has a certain effect on the progression of hyperlipidemia induced by high-cholesterol diet in rats and better than Dachaihutang and Huanglianjiedutang. Compared with ezetimibe, the lipid-lowering effect of kampo recipe Fangjihuagnqitang is not as good as ezetimibe, but the effect on indicators related inflammatory factors such as MCP1, CCR2, ICAM-1, AMPK and NF-κB is more obvious. Natural herb Huangqi and Fangji, the main herbs in kampo recipe Fangjihuangqitang has the similar effect according to the data after 6 and 12 weeks. When combined with natural herb fangji, Huangqi has a better effect. Clinical study showed that Fangjihaungqitang can alleviate hyperlipidemia process.
