Objective To know the changing trends of aging-related indicators in Qingdao50-74year-old residents; To analyze the correlation relationships between these aging-related functions; To examine the effects of socio-demographic and blood biochemical indicators on aging-related parameters.Methods2476Qingdao rural and urban residents who aged50-74years were sampled through stratified cluster sampling and random sampling method in2009. Homemade scale and individual’s self-rated health (SRH) scale were adopted to interview the elderly, meanwhile, forced expiratory volumne in1second (FEV1), force vital capacity (FVC), handgrip strength,5sit-to-stand test time (STS), hearing threshold, near visual acuity and blood biochemical indicators were measured.1224rural individuals were followed up in2013. Multiple linear regression analysis(cross-sectional data) was used to investigate the effect of age, gender, income, education, BMI, glycosylated hemoglobin (HbAlc), blood lipids (TC/HDL) and blood uric acid (UA) on aging-related parameters; A paired t-test was used to compare the data changes from year2009to2013; We described the decrease of these parameters on several levels of factors; Multiple linear regression (cohort data) was used to estimate the effect of factors on changes of these function impacts; Pair-wise Pearsons’correlation was used to analyze the correlation relationships between aging-related parameters. Results From2009to2013, SRH decreased by0.21, FEV1decreased by0.45L, FVC decreased by0.49L, handgrip strength decreased by2.07kg, STS extended by0.15s and hearing (average threshold) increased by0.15dB of the elderly. The partial correlation coefficient (control for sex and age) between FEV1and FVC was0.752(p<0.05), while other coefficients were small (|r|=0.005-0.240). The changes of these functions were larger in men than in female (p<0.05). With age growing and BMI elevating, the decline in amplitude of SRH, FVC, grip strength, STS and hearing become increasingly apparent(|β|=0.097~0.654, p<0.05). The people with higher HbAlc had the quicker grip strength decreasing speed (β=-0.640, p=0.014), the higher STS time (β=0.362,p=0.001) and hearing threshold (p=0.288, p=0.002) significantly. With the blood uric acid (<420umol/L group) increasing, the decrease of grip strength, the extend of STS and the elevate of hearing threshold levels were more and more small. Conclusion Self-rated health, respiratory function, grip strength,5sit-to-stand test time and hearing threshold of the Qingdao elderly were decreasing. The degrees of correlation between aging-related function were small (except for FEV1and FVC). The decrease of aging-related parameters is the result of interactions of multiple factors, age, BMI and HbAlc were risk factors, while UA was protective factor.
